I know that I saw Girl Of The Year supporting Carter USM at Sheffield Uni in 1995, but unfortunately I can’t remember much about the gig - not the best anecdote but I definitely saw them live! 😆

Great shout, don’t often see them mentioned by anyone but this album is great. They also did some fantastic remixes, their mix of Left Behind by CSS is still one of my favourites

Heeded the advice to watch the film before listening to the podcast and I am so glad I did. Wow! What a fantastic film. I’d not even heard of it until this week and it’s such a fantastic thrilling movie. And the blu-ray is amazing, so many great special features

That was a heck of a good top 10

I got this for Christmas on double cassette in 1986, and I have such fond memories of listening to this over and over. Duran Duran’s Notorious is still my favourite track on this compilation, but it is chocked full of fantastic hits.

I don’t ever remember hearing this listening to the charts, but remember it well as having been included on the Hits 4 compilation. I actually quite like it, but it sort of just existed for this brief time, and wasn’t as enduring as other songs in that collection

I love the Universal, especially live as their set-closer, but He Thought of Cars is so good. There was an awesome mix of Entertain Me on the Universal cd single 1 (remember those?!) which really took that track up a notch

Damn, 2/3 for me - Stone Roses at Bridlington Spa and Blur at Sheffield Arena

Yep, I was there. I remember seeing Jarvis Cocker in the stadium, just a week or so before Pulp went stellar at their Glastonbury headline spot. Fantastic gig, and all for £18.50!

Don’t forget the colour photo of the platoon as well, just what every 10-year old spectrum gamer wanted!

I bought this a while back purely for House Arrest by Krush. I absolutely loved that track when it came out, and it still sounds good today

Holy moly! I had a bout of insomnia this morning and listened to both episodes back to back. Not going back to sleep anytime soon! Love it!

Finally got around to watching the Rubber-Keyed Wonder doc, absolutely fascinating insight to the genius of Sinclair, and how the humble spectrum came into being. Brought back so many good memories - well worth checking out

I think the NME wins on that cover alone. Very Britpoppy but when you look at what else is featured in both papers you can see that there was still so much else being covered. I think MM loses points for featuring R Kelly! 🤣

Loved it! Absolutely takes me back to my Glastonbury experiences in 94 and 95 - arranging to meet my friends at a meeting point (by leaving a post-it on a massive board, no idea how we managed to meet!), Joe Bananas and Sodding Senser (they were great though). Thanks again!

Just on my way home from seeing the wonderful Inside No. 9 play Stage/Fright. It’s funny, scary and heartbreaking, and If it wasn’t completely sold out I’d go and see it again. Absolutely wonderful

I saw both bands on separate occasions at the Leadmill - Mantaray were supporting The Bluetones and Northern Uproar headlining their own gig. Unfortunately 30-odd years later and my memory is failing, so can’t remember much about either! Great anecdote eh

Fantastic photo. Wondering what stars/planets are captured to the left of the moon, possibly Jupiter and Uranus (stop sniggering)

Was lucky to see the Tempest on Friday, my first real experience of Shakespeare in a theatre. I’ve since read the reviews, but I was mesmerised - I loved it. The staging and sound were fantastic, and Mason Alexander Park stole the show - absolutely fantastic

With the b-side Deck the Bleeding Halls - provided many giggles from me, it was just about the worst swearing I’d heard at that point 🤣

Doesn’t it just. I had no idea about the existence of the 1915 recording of Rudyard Kipling’s poem Boots (which soundtracks it) nor the story about how it has been used - I think it’s perfectly placed to increase the stress and sense of threat in this trailer. I really hope the film lives up to this

Had a wonderful evening at #BFISouthbank, with @kermodemovie.bsky.social doing a fascinating interview Daniel Craig. Yes, Bond was covered but I’m so glad time was given to Enduring Love, a film that is so powerful from the word go and one of my favourite Daniel Craig films
