this magazine also acknowledges Garfield movie tie-in game, which has yet to be released since its announcement in 2023 and planned release in 2024. no word on what happened to the game has been given and so its fate is currently unknown.

page 22 from an issue of the Australian kid's gaming magazine 'K-Zone' published in June 2024 features a spot on the timeline of Garfield, including an official acknowledgement of the original 'Jon' comic strip, one of the first (that i know of, at least) since the strip's resurfacing in mid 2020.

these don't even cover every version of the trailer out there. there is yet ANOTHER trailer made for when jetpack Joyride released for the PS3 (although this one was not uploaded by Halfbrick to my knowledge). why are there so many……….

i have absolutely no idea why Halfbrick uploaded this trailer three separate times with tiny miniscule edits, but they did. not sure why the 2016 upload became unlisted either. it’s very weird and unnecessary to me…

the third one was uploaded in 2016 and was later unlisted, before becoming private due to YouTube's new policies regarding unlisted videos made before 2017. this version has absolutely no logos at the end whatsoever.

the second upload was for the Android release of the game in 2012 and has logos for Google Play, Amazon, the Apple app store and the Android mascot as well as the aforementioned app icons and Facebook logo.

the first upload was the one released a little before the game was on the 30th of August 2011. this version has the September 1st release date as well as the app icon, the animation studio's logo, the animation studio logo as well as Twitter and Facebook logos.

weird Jetpack Joyride fact: similarly to the two uploads of the Shirt Sleeves rock opera, there are three separate versions of the Jetpack Joyride trailer Halfbrick uploaded that all have extremely miniscule differences between one another. here's a comparison of each just because.

also, bonus fact: Halfbrick actually seems to have been around since 2000! an archive of their very first website blog entry exists, introducing their presence in the games industry for the first time. look at how far they've come since then... *wipes tear* :')

to my knowledge, a majority of this information seems to have gone completely undocumented, and i'd like to share it all here cause it's super interesting.

this article also mentions a game concept that "wouldn’t see the light of day until years later when we were treated to Raskulls", likely referring to XGame, an action puzzle game Halfbrick developed around 2003-2004 but never released.

this is really interesting to me because it shows Halfbrick was attempting to work on games for original IPs wayyy back in 2001 before Fuzz & Rocket (the game considered to be HB's first original game) entered development.

the only proof of this game's existence comes from an article that briefly mentions the game being developed, as well as this low quality video displaying a prototype build of the game being played. it's platformer game that was meant to attract contract work, likely for licensed games.

now that the JavaScript game section of this thread is done, i want to briefly talk about an obscure unreleased GBA game Halfbrick worked on in 2001 by the name of 'Booze'. it's unclear when exactly in 2001 this game was developed and was planned to come out, but it did exist at one point.

interestingly, the first post to mention Turbulence said it was being developed for next gen handheld consoles (i would assume the GBA), so it's pretty unclear what platform it would have been released on. if only we had more info about it...

that's really all we know about this game. it's unknown if was officially cancelled or reused for any newer projects, it just fell into obscurity and, like Farma Llamma, not another word was said about it going forward.

the game also had some of its own characters: Alpha, Beta and Bob. according to Turbulence's features page, these three are apparently on a quest to defeat the evil minions of 'Race Munga' and rescue 'RaceX' from "there" [sic] enslavement.

10.11.2024 07:09 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

what we do know is that Turbulence was intended to be a retro style 2D puzzle platformer game developed in the Java engine. it was intended to have 2 players, over 100 levels and playable online.

and finally we get to Turbulence. this is the game we know the least about, as this game only had one post made about it before seemingly disappearing, and none of its concept art was archived properly, so you can't actually view any of it on the website.

this game seemed to have gone completely unreleased and nothing more was said about it after that final blog post on the 28th. Halfbrick later published a farming game called 'Top Farm' back in 2014, though that game was developed by a different studio and has no relation to Farma Llamma.

Farma Llamma also would have been a multiplayer game with large environments. apart from information listed on its features page though, nothing else of the game appears to have been released. on the 28th of July, its development was put on hold, citing too much workload as the reason.

Farma Llamma was an online JavaScript game that was first announced on the 14th of March 2001. it was intended to be a realtime farming game hosted on a server that would persist even when you weren't playing it, meaning if you didn't play and neglected your farm, it would degrade in real time.

next, i want to talk about the two other projects Halfbrick was working on at the time but never ended up releasing: Farma Llamma and Turbulence.
