This is the start of a new project called Bree As Cree
Januarys word is 'Bree', which means energy, I've gone for the Energy from Waste plant. my best guess at the pronunciation of the whole phrase is:
π‘ π‘œ-π‘’π‘Ÿ-π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘–π‘Ÿπ‘‘ π‘π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘’ 𝑣𝑒𝑖 π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘β„Ž

Todays word is Dove - calmane
shee (π‘˜π‘œπ‘™-π‘šπ‘Žπ‘’π‘› π‘ β„Žπ‘’π‘’) is peace pigeon.

Calmane (sometimes spelt colmane) is a pigeon or
dove as they are all the same family - columbidae.

The shee bit means peace.

Todays word was fireplace, and
there' no Manxer a fireplace than a chiollagh.
(π‘β„Žπ‘œπ‘™-π‘Žπ‘˜β„Ž)

And a good day it is to warm your legs by one. The act
of which is a known as brabbag (π‘π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘£-𝑒𝑔)

Pye mynrey (𝑝𝑖𝑒 π‘šπ‘–π‘›-π‘Ÿπ‘’β„Ž) is my word for today.
Mynrey comes from the commonly used diminutive 'myn',
β€’ myn-changaroo = wallaby/small kangaroo
β€’ mynroagan = queenie/small scallop
and the action of mincing things making things small - mynaghey.

'Garey biljagh' which literally means tree garden, more commonly known as plantations.

Our favourite is Archallagan - one that is lucky enough to have it's own little cafe at the moment run bringing a pop of colour and warmth to what can be a dark and very damp place at this time of year.

Had a busy weekend doing craft fairs - so here's todays word 'candlelight' from a card I have available.

The Manx on this is 'Gennal as gial' (𝑔𝑒𝑛-π‘›π‘Žπ‘™ π‘Žπ‘§ 𝑔'π‘¦π‘Žπ‘™) which means 'merry and bright'

DM me if you're interested πŸŽ…πŸ‘Œ

I don't have a Manx Gaelic word for the poinsettia (π‘π‘œπ‘¦π‘›Β·π‘ π‘’β„ŽΒ·π‘‘π‘’π‘’Β·π‘’β„Ž). They were new to the IOM after the language had already begun declining.
We could make a name up for them?:
β€’ Rollage jiarg (π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘™-π‘Žπ‘’π‘” π‘—π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘”) 'Red star'?🌟
Or should we honour its roots and call it cuetlaxochitl. (π‘˜π‘€π‘’π‘‘-π‘™π‘Ž-𝑆𝐻𝑂-π‘ β„Žπ‘’)

I found a new word for snowflake - claddan (π‘π‘™π‘Žπ‘‘β„Ž-π‘Žπ‘›) I think I chose the compound word lhiannag sniaghtee for the last time I did this one as I knew how to pronounce it over the other options...

Proof that we're learning!

Had to go out and get a job to supplement income. Luckily it's one I get to draw at. :) little out of practice but enjoying it so far.
