So pleased to share this work on alkaloid biosynthesis.
Great collaboration with @unsworthchem.bsky.social. Well done to all authors. We have found key alkaloid producing enzymes that look like those normally found in bacteria.

New paper out today on alkaloid (bio)synthesis with @unsworthchem.bsky.social . Dr Lachlan Waddell made ten bioactive securinine alkaloids using "biomimetic" total synthesis - a strategy that we think is analogous to the plant makes the alkaloids by biosynthesis. pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a...
🔓Check out this #OpenAccess research by @unsworthchem.bsky.social ,Gideon Grogan & co @york.ac.uk in our latest issue describing cyclopropanation reactions by a class I unspecific peroxygenase #orgchem

Assuming you mean the Man City game, fans likely to be leaving from 1930. Could be later if it goes to extra time, but I doubt it will. For what it's worth, seems unlikely to be a game with l a lot of trouble afterwards based in the teams involved.
Clearing out my office and came across this much reused folder. You can just make out a scribbled date, 29 Jan 87, for a tutorial with Bruce Gilbert. So it's at least 38 yrs old. Channeling my inner womble, I think I'll keep it a little longer. @professor-dave.bsky.social @unsworthchem.bsky.social
Whoops - thanks!
The ideas behind this paper all came from the Gregynog Synthesis workshop - ALL participants of the 2022 edition of this legendary meeting are duly acknowledged!
Very happy to announce our latest paper - out today in Chemical Science
A very enjoyable collaboration with @roly armRoly Armstrong
on Stereoselective Synthesis of Atropisomeric Amides.

2nd hiring round of the York-Oxford CDT in sustainable synthesis is open.
Seeking a talented organic chemist to work with me, Gideon Grogan and Ed Anderson on a synthesis project using enzymes (#28). Inquiries welcome!

Port Charlotte great too!
Thanks Tom - pretty sure I've never tried any Glenallachie. Will keep in mind. Although I tend to favour very smokey/peaty. Can't go wrong with a Bowmore of the others you have.
And the second, Dehydrogenative Photoredox Catalyzed Synthesis of Indolyl Δ2-Isoxazolines via a Formal C(sp3)–H Functionalization. With the equally amazing Wade Petersen.

Very happy to announced 2 new papers from the group in the last 24 hours!
The first, Divergent Oxidation Reactions of E- and Z-Allylic Primary Alcohols by an Unspecific Peroxygenases, just out, with my amazing collaborator Prof Gideon Grogan

I usually have a Laphroig on the go but not currently - will need to rectify!
Definitely a great selection. Most not mine I should say - my mate hosting has a collection of several hundred! The Tullibardine my favourite of the night.
Whisky night!
Thanks a lot for the shout out Scott, and thanks Derek for helping to showcase the power of ring expansion methods to make tricky larger ring sizes. Plus, who doesn't love a nice rearrangement reaction!
Happy to share our News and Views article on a very cool new ring expansion approached developed by Yifeng Chen and coworkers.
Written with Jack Wootton, and just out in Nature Chemistry

See you tomorrow Kevin!
Second post - major congratulations to Barbara Radzikowska for passing her viva.👩🎓 Thank you to examiners Dr Lianne Willems and Prof Chris Willis. Cosupervised by @unsworthchem.bsky.social . Seriously impressive project on complex alkaloid biosynthesis in Daphniphyllum. 🥳
Delighted to announce publication of the 2nd posthumous paper from the lab of our friend and colleague Prof Paul Clarke.
With Saikiran Ravi, Chris Maddocks and Prof Ian Fairlamb
We all miss you Paul – hope we have done the work justice

Need something for my first post over here, so gone for a shameless plug of our JACS paper published earlier this year!
Looking forward to interacting with you all again in a better and less angry place.
