Still struggling with how the WFA, including Ms Gregory, felt they had to ban the 14 Lost Lionesses on their return from Copa71 in Mexico. They were banned from playing the game they loved, after experiencing the time of their lives. Many of the girls never returned to playing. Such a sad outcome.

I'd be interested to read what she says about the bans imposed on the girls that played in front of 90,000 in the Azteca, Mexico City during Copa71! Put an end to some promising playing careers, where was the support for the women's football then.

This is heartening to read, Gary. As an aside, do Mary Bee or any other of her peers recall playing with Jean Seymour in the 1950s/60s?

Watched the England v Belgium international this evening, reminded me of the first women's international that I saw, at The Dell in 1978.

I see that Saints legend, Mick Channon, made 3 Central League appearances for City.

The season (1965/66) that both City and The Saints were promoted to the First Division. Saints first ever game in the top flight was a one all draw at The Dell against City.

Seeing the image of Summerbee reminded me that one of the ladies of Southampton's Patstone United remember meeting him when they played The Corinthians at Mersey Fields, late 1960s/1970.
