I think I figured out a minor part of my current malfunction. I spend too much time alone and not enough socializing. I'm a social dragon, I like being around people, going places and doing stuff. When I'm alone in the dark with my thoughts is when the demons come out to play.

Helped a friend move today. 5.2 years and I still got it. I'll be hating life tomorrow, but I still got it.

I'm buying stock in this company. One can and I feel like a new dragon. Not even kidding.

Shit like that is what I mean by my brain betraying me. It happens so often that I live in constant fear that I am about to or in the process of screwing up or missing something. You can imagine what that does to a dragon's mental state (and productivity).

One (of many) examples happened last March.

I built a crib. Total PITA, fighting me every step of the way. Get it assembled to show the client, they said, "it looks short". I look at the contract. Somehow, some way, I missed the "XL" part of their order despite looking at it dozens of times.

Drugs. Not even kidding. Meds keep my internal chemistry (mostly) under control when my emotional shit hits the fan. It's an imperfect workaround, but definitely helps.

This is what I was talking about a few days ago. My frustration tolerance is low because it happens so often despite my best efforts to avoid mistakes. I can take a couple hits when things otherwise go well and smooth, but when they happen several times a day, I become unsafe around tools.

If I could simply feel neutral to a screw-up and casually keep going without wanting to burn my life down, it wouldn't interfere with production other than fixing the mistake. I need to stop being so scared of my work that it compromises my ability to do it.

Work stuff.

Two items that keep holding me back from my potential here: the constant mistakes, and my emotional reaction to them.

Even if I can't reduce the mistakes, I'd be better off if they just didn't hurt so goddamn much. The fallout can take me out of the game for days or even weeks.
