Happy Halloween, everyone! One of my favourite days of the year.

Today for Halloween I am reading Scuttler's Cove by David Barnett. Think 'Doc Martin' meets 'The Fog' with a touch of 'The Wicker Man' thrown in for good measure...

Today a review of Alix E Harrow's The Everlasting over at @sffworld.com. "In short, this book exceeded my initial expectations. The Everlasting is a Fantasy adventure story, yes, but also one that makes you think, with characters that resonate and a clever plot that never fails to engage."

Hi Kaz. Sorry: should have said that it's an advance copy for review. Due out on the 30th October here in the UK - getting it read so that the review is written for then!

Afternoon, Womble! hope all's good with you. Just surfaced from reading Alastair Reynolds' latest. A private detective reassembled from Yuri Gagarin, investigating a murder (or possibly more than one!) on a generational spaceship. Great cover, too.

She's great, isn't she? If you haven't tried her ASH: A Secret History, I thoroughly recommend it. A great big doorstep of a book, it's violent, funny, brutally harsh and glorious. Has remained in my 'favourite books' list for 25 years!
