I came across them via their Military Edition: vorticwatches.com/pages/milita...

Yeah, it’s a US company. It’s a spinoff from another company called Vortic, which takes pocket watches and converts them to wristwatches. vorticwatches.com
I actually really want one of their military editions. Maybe if I write a #1 bestseller…
I tend to color code them to what I’m wearing, but in general, I wear the Acklington, Vario, and Timex the most. It took a couple of years and I’m mostly done picking them up, but there are a couple I’m covering, like this one: coloradowatchcompany.com/products/gct...

I’ve got 10 that I rotate through: if you’re looking for a good dress one, I like the Wolfpoint and Shinola.

10.08.2025 01:38 — 👍 41 🔁 5 💬 4 📌 0As much as I would be thrilled to see any of the books I've ever worked on be adapted to a different medium - live action, animation, video-game, etc...that thrill would only be in the underlying work of the author getting more visibility.
Because while its cool...adaptation is not validation.
Yeah. I was going to stick around longer to take pictures of cosplayers after my panel and just gave up. 😫

Fortunately, Megan is the literal best and retrieved it from my computer for me.
Oh, this sounds fascinating.

This is such a delightful book: the story of a group of robots coming together to open a restaurant in a devastated San Francisco. sparks flying against a deep blue sky
Last year, I published a short story through Horizon 2045's Far Futures project: "Embers."
The project sought to imagine a future where nuclear weapons had been abolished, and in my story, an international organization is tasked with accounting for the weapons out there.
A screenshot from a kindle reader.
Additionally: I spent a little time putzing around and updated the story with a pair of files (PDF and ePub) for you to read on your eBook reader! Should be downloadable now from the page.

I've republished it on my newsletter, with some images that I took last year that I particularly liked. You can read it here:

Transfer Orbit Lede: a grid of 16 SFF Books to read this month
A short blurb about A CATALOG OF STORMS - “ I'm delighted to see that she's collected some of her short stories into a new collection: A Catalog of Storms. It'll include 14 of her recent short stories, including the Hugo/Locus-nominated "A Catalog of Storms," as well as other stories about sentient storms, strange creatures, uncanny museum guides, and quite a few more.”
Over at TRANSFER ORBIT, Andrew Liptak is serving up 16 new reads for August, including my collection, A CATALOG OF STORMS (Fairwood Press, August 12!) - check out the whole list, here: transfer-orbit.ghost...
