We’ve got quite high ceilings and I always buy an exceptionally tall real tree. I need to restrain myself until December so that it’s still reasonably fresh come Christmas!

I picked up reading quite early, too but don’t have much memory of how it was taught.

I do remember in primary school which reading books you had access to was restricted based on your reading level. The coveted ‘free reader’ status let you have the run of the library!

My son’s learnt using phonics, I think that’s been standard in the UK since about ‘07
