It’s literally a regular occurrence 😂 this one guy I actually had been mutuals with for a long time and he started commenting last week, I had a feeling something would come up and sure enough. 🙃

I shouldn’t be shocked anymore but man, every time it happens, I’m just like “damn, you as well???”

Some dude on insta. But when I say my DMs and comments across platforms stay like this, I mean it. It’s just astounding to me. I guess he would say he’s further left, and I’ve been saying, that horseshoe theory man. The further left you get, the closer you get to the right. 🙃

All this did was further prove my point racism is playing a factor here, that and him saying “Blacks” was all I needed to know to be completely honest. But you keep living your best life in Chicago, meanwhile I’m out here in Texas with a government that couldn’t give two fucks if we die 😂

Anyway, on to a brutal slogging of a Republican runoff & pushing an incredibly inspiring Democratic Governor Candidate in Gina Hinajosa 🤪, back to our regularly scheduled programming 😌 I need a mental reset cause this primary was an experience to say the least.

It absolutely matters because this is part of the issue I am talking about, misinformation absolutely played a factor in this race and you are proving that point.

She didn’t say that. A google search just confirmed that. She routinely emphasized voting for the “most qualified person” and that Dems should back the nominee. Unless you can provide an article stating otherwise, what I am seeing is that a VOTER felt that way between the two parties. Not her.

She also spent WAY less money than Talarico. The amount of money spent in this primary on both sides is enough to make me want to 🤢

Between going back & forth from Washington M-F and campaigning nonstop on weekends, she did as good a job can be expected compared to someone on the trail every day. Her comments with Hispanics I don’t personally played a huge factor, many Hispanics I spoke to agreed when it came to MAGA Latinos.

Onward to November.

I hope to see some genuine bridge building and mending of relationships from the Talarico camp because I have already seen people who have been subjected to many of these racist comments and attacks state they will be staying home come November and we do need every single vote that can be obtained.

The focus now turns to November. I’ve always said we will rally around the nominee and I stand by that. I also stand by my morals that racism, sexism etc are never acceptable and I will call them out every time I see them even from my own party.

This primary election has exposed huge cracks in the Texas Democratic Party that if not properly addressed, may not be rectified by the general election.

Lots of misinformation was pushed in this primary by white liberal voters. Misinformation that even when fact checked again and again, continued to be pushed.

I know what I’ve seen and heard as recently as tonight. You do not have the base solidly behind you when you lose 3 of your states 4 largest cities.

The online rhetoric from that staunchest Talarico supporters gives Bernie Bro 2.0 energy and I do worry that the damage done within black communities is going to be a lasting one. Whether you care to acknowledge that or not, I am not here to debate with you.

Those are absolutely your internal biases showing. The things that I have seen personally said online, to me, and primarily to women of color online has been both shocking and disgusting.

I wouldn’t be able to sit with myself without calling out the outright racism and sexism that absolutely played its part in this race. The number of people that said verbatim “I love her but it’s Texas” “I love her but she’s black” etc. has not sat right with me for the last couple of months.

I appreciate the primary process. I believe candidates in tough primaries come out on the other end battle tested and in a better position for a general election. I do also worry that the selection made was one based on vibes rather than substance.

Texas has made it’s decision.

I will say this because I feel it would be a genuine disservice not to.

But if you try to tell a certain side that they are almost identical, they will combust 🫣 been on the receiving end of it myself lmao

Regardless of what official results end up being, Texas, I am proud as fuck of us turning out.

Sec of State just updated again, 74% in, Crocket at 49.0%, Talarico at 49.7%. They still don’t seem to have in Dallas.

49/49% per Sec of State website updated every 5 mins. So we shall see what happens 🙃
