One good argument against is the two-round system in action. France is not and over the course of the 5th Republic been as stable as post-1948 Germany with its PR system. A lot more harmony in the workplace in Germany compared to France's industrial relations record.
💥 Professor Vernon Bogdanor writes for @financialtimes.com:
"An electoral system should do two things: ensure that the majority rules and that significant minorities are adequately represented.
First Past the Post achieves neither."
🗯️ "At the next election, a minority party could win a majority of seats with just a fraction of the popular vote."
🗳️ APPG member @annadixonmp.bsky.social made the case in Parliament for a National Commission on Electoral Reform.

Today we are spreading the word about a fairer voting system in Stockton Heath, Warrington. #PRnow
This is Hannah Spencer MP speaking at our Manchester rally last summer ☀️
We're pleased to have another PR campaigner in Parliament - but it's still wrong that almost 6 in 10 voters in Gorton and Denton didn't get representation.
Regardless of who wins, we keep campaigning for fair votes for all.
MVMNWSURREY supporters of electoral reform just had a Valentine's Day meeting with Esher & Walton MP Monica Harding.
🙏Thanks @monicaharding.bsky.social🙏for your support of #fairvotes so we can @makevotesmatter.bsky.social ❤️❤️😊!
Happy #ValentinesDay! 💘
May your love be out of proportion.
But not your election results.
You wouldn't marry someone just because they're better than your most toxic ex (well, we hope not!).
So why do we have a voting system that keeps forcing us to choose the least worst option?
This #ValentinesDay, let's demand a system that allows us all to vote with our 💘
‘Representation of the People Bill’ without proportional representation is a joke. And not a funny one 😤
We need the National Commission on electoral reform included in the bill.

🚨BREAKING: The new Representation of the People Bill is here.
The Bill aims to "restore trust in our democracy" - but it doesn't even touch the voting system that leaves millions unrepresented.
60% of Brits want to scrap First Past the Post.
Tell Starmer to include electoral reform in the Bill ⬇️
Today I have been watching Liverpool Women FC in the WSL and LFC Men in the big Prem Game. The non-league club AFC Liverpool was founded in 2008 because for some people football is not affordable. That is why I have also supported AFC Liverpool over the last 18 years as well.
An extra thought comes to mind. You don't particularly have to like the Lib Dems to get the point I am making. The wider point is if any PM of any colour was minded to appoint someone with a colourful history like Mandelson, they would need agreement from another party.
I hear Gordon Brown is suggesting an anti-corruption commission. One thing that does come to mind is had we had Proportional Representation and Starmer had told a Coalition Partner he wanted to appoint Mandelson as UK Ambassador to Washington, what would someone like Sir Ed Davey say? #PRnow
A win at last. #LFC #WSL
"Far from being a distraction from promoting growth and improving our living standards, electoral reform is a prerequisite for it.
It’s time to send a clear message to the government: our dysfunctional electoral system is holding our country back."

What do #TraitorsUK and UK politics have in common? 👀
More than you might think...
Democracy shouldn't be a game. Share if you agree 👇 #Traitors #TheTraitorsUK
If we can have a TV debate on membership of the EU and Scottish Independence, then we should also have a TV debate on the very issue which underpins every political issue- The Voting System. #ProportionalRepresentation

No wonder we keep getting governments that most of the public want gone.
"Only a fifth of the eligible electorate actually voted for the current majority government."
Under First Past the Post, that's enough for a "landslide".

This May’s elections are expected to bring chaos because our voting system is broken.
I’ve written to my MP to push for fairer elections before it’s too late. It takes 2 minutes to do the same here: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

Proportional Representation wouldn't just make politics fairer.
It would also lead to governments making better decisions - argues @greenparty.org.uk MP @elliechowns.bsky.social on @hansardsociety.bsky.social podcast.
We completely agree 💯

First street stall of 2026: done ✅
Shout out to our activists in Bedford who braved the cold to speak to local people about fixing our democracy.
There was loads of interest! It's clear that the public is fed up with politics as usual and ready for real change. @mvm-bedford-mk.bsky.social
This building may be iconic. But the way the Chamber is set up, with 2 sides facing each other, encourages hatred. Along with a desire for Proportional Representation, the idea of a New Parliament with the Chamber in a horse shoe shape should be looked at. #Westminster

Venezuela have had disastrous Governments for many years. However to become a better run country, Venezuela could not only do well to keep some distance from the US (which is a sham democracy), but also make the office of Venezuela President more ceremonial. #Venezuela
For me, one of the great Chris Rea's most underrated songs. #ChrisRea

Merry Christmas and Happy 2026 to all fellow Electoral Reform Campaigners in UK, Canada & US striving to end unfair First Past The Post elections. #ProportionalRepresentation #UK #Canada #USA
✉️ 100+ activists wrote personal Christmas cards to the Democracy Minister @samanthadixonmp.bsky.social, asking her to support a fairer voting system.
So we went to her office in Chester to deliver them.

⭐️ On Day 8 of 12 Days of Democracy, The Molotovs singer Issey Carts reveals another reason to demand a more democratic voting system.
"So many perspectives don't get a hearing in Westminster. There's more to politics than binary choices and people are increasingly realising that."
There were 3 Warrington-based activists present last weekend in Chester, making the case to Samantha Dixon, Chester North & Neston MP, and Minister for Democracy, that the desire is there to change to a Fairer Voting System. #ProportionalRepresentation
