The wake in the pub nowadays becomes a reconnection with community and friendship. Especially those who have left the area

If I’m being brutally honest I was anti wake in pubs for a long time because this was one of the few times I’d go to the pub as a kid and it wasn’t a great advert. But I think that’s changed when I realise pubs in 80s provincial Britain don’t exist thankfully any more. And 1/2

My favourite comment: ‘Who is holding a wake at a coffee shop? … I work at at a really good beer bar in Amsterdam but again you wouldn’t really hold a wake here … living abroad really helps you to understand how special pubs are’
