For the second time today, CTA Blue Line service is stopped at Harlem (Forest Park) due to someone running around on the tracks, and on the Eisenhower Exp’y.
Welcome to the friendlier skies.
In times of stress and despair, the least I feel I can do is to share with my friends the enormous, profound, and self-aware dumbness that is the film Torque (2004).
They felt like that, too.
"Be careful. Either watch the State of the Union, or listen to it. Not both."
"Of course. Shall I provide sardonic real-time commentary via the corporate Bluesky account, sir?"
"Don't bother, Owen, everyone already blocked it."
Off we go, hoping to catch some time with @gargoylespodcast.bsky.social along the way.
From Kapadia v. Sheriff of Cook County, 2026 IL App (1st) 241393-U.
Besides "oops," he also suggested that copy-and-pasting his duty logs was totally fine. Strong @loweringthebar.bsky.social energy here.

TFW the local takeout is offering "chicken (polio) fried rice" and you can't actually be 100% sure that's a typo.
Relaying a reply: Doug from Minneapolis says this image means a LOT to them, and says thanks.
Macbeth: SHIT
The motto of one of these manufacturers of electric power cable I'm researching is, "Try life without us." Another uses, "A world where darkness is gone, and light always stays."
This level of good v. evil imagery does nothing to dispel my image of cable companies as the Illuminati.
Hi Bluesky. I don't visit often, but I had to share this piece I made. Goliath would definitely have something to say about what is happening.

Oops. Looks like we lost some transmission lines going into the Baltimore-Washington area: PJM's ordering load cuts. Hope almost everyone out there stays safe.
I am not going to MA tomorrow as my meeting was cancelled due to weather; a good call, from the look of things.
So instead, in what may be a less-good call, I'm beginning to release the third "season" of my "Gargoyles" fan-writing here (now with RSS!): www.amorriseng.com/stories/
On an editing spree at the taproom and “The Russians Are Coming” just came onto the PA, better known (?) as the theme to the TV show “The Secret Life of Machines.”
Feels like the right place to be, I mean.
Damn the cold, damn the traffic, even damn the torpedoes (it’s a tough city), but this year’s #gargoyles Winter Special is just out and you do what you must to get it. Full speed ahead.
I see this, and yet again I can't not think of this story arc: skin-horse.com/comic/todays...
@shaenon.bsky.social and @jeffreycwells.bsky.social were ahead of their time, yet again, except I think GODOT would have done a better job.
Sitting here recovering from reading "Demona" number 5, which I finally got on-time and enjoyed thoroughly, but, man. Is this ever a gut punch. #gargoyles
I am working on episode 6 of The Thing I Do Not Talk About. I got about one scene and six beers in before losing steam. Help.
“Perfidious schemes.” I guess things are not improving between the Maibencos.
Chicago Sun-Times, Dec. 6, 2025, Sports Final Ed., p. 21.
Digging through #gargoyles "Demona" 4 this weekend, and somehow it's finally hitting me what the core of Demona's character is. It's not exactly a world-shattering revelation, but I think I get it now.
Good comic. Great story.
The pin by @sciggles.com is getting plenty of exposure tonight.
Hour 17 of this conference finds me.
Sitting in the front row of this conference and the electric utility executive on stage just mentioned his oil & gas customers had trouble hooking up. I had trouble concealing my snickering.
Oh no! I did not, and now TFCon is done! Whatever shall I do?
Agreed, in the wider view. The presentation demands a lot of the reader. They're two giant backstories, a *lot* there for the uninitiated to catch up with, and not simple to present side-by-side in one issue so there's also a lot going on. It beat me the first time through, but worth a second try.
Fingers crossed, I guess. A long but firm date’s much better than a floating one.
I do not know the significance of this, but the FAA put a no-fly zone for drones over Chicago this morning for “special security reasons.” tfr.faa.gov/tfr3/?page=d...
Oh, nicely done.
This morning's ride of the boulevards on the Zero was very pretty. Also, I saw a Wolf Larsen sticker that someone had apparently taken offense to, and censored.
