I tried to explain the late 90s optimism with regards to democratization, end of history, golden arches theory etc. in IR class. My students looked at me like I was an alien.

We are talking about interview methods in class and I ran out of time to assign a larger project on it. If you were going to have students draw up some questions and interview classmates in class, what would be a good topic to have them interview each other about? #polisky #academicsky

This would have been secret to preserve grandpa's ego. When he got older she gave him his SS check to spend every month and told him that was all their money. (she had good retirement benefits she actually paid the bills with). It was obvious the poor woman had been negotiating his ego for years.

Or you have the reverse. My Grandma graduated with business degree in the 1940s and worked as an office manager. By his mid 30s grandpa's ptsd (WWII) was so bad he didn't do much of anything. Including all those domestic tasks. So they were just broke. I suspect her parents occasionally sent them $.

Every time a woman runs for president I hear that sheโ€™s too emotional and unstable to make wartime decisions, unlike the men in charge who make really reasonable decisions like bombing kids to death, starting water wars, and poisoning the entire planet

Talarico released a medicare for all plan but rebranded it as "medicare for y'all", and got everyone to start calling him a moderate. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I can't believe I am saying this because they are both ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ But Chip Roy was pretty vocal about Paxton's criminal activity even though I don't think it helped him personally. And he is at least pretending to care about enforcing child support payments. So low low bar...but better than MAGA Middleton.

Also, I think it's perfectly fine for faculty to criticize and someone in administration who makes literally 9 or 10x my salary can figure out how to build. I am very busy over here trying to figure out how to make sure students still learn something with my limited time and resources.

Ha ha. When I was assigned it in high school my mom was like "I LOVE THAT BOOK !!!"

I read it and hated it, so then she reread it and was like "OMG this is terrible. It really appealed to 13 year old angsty teenage me with no self-esteem. But rereading it I just feel bad for 13 year old me."

I am so sorry one of the cruelst things about being this sick IMO is that anytime I get too emotional, I then have a major physical crash from it. And it's like "oh come on not only can I not do a lot of normal fun things, but I can even just lie here and feel my feelings?"

I loved Charm School (by DeMille) at that age. Also in fantasy the Deadly Education series is great (and more recent ๐Ÿ˜…). Dungeon Crawler Carl is hilarious (although pretty raunchy so don't know if that would be ok yet). World War Z is fun (way better than the movie).

Yeah if having kids is the only way to have meaning in your life, why doesn't he stay home with them? ๐Ÿ™„

'Why aren't they in the streets' is answered almost every day in my small town by people in the streets! Rather than asking 'why aren't they in the streets' it's worth asking 'why isn't your media showing them in the streets' and 'who is served by downplaying resistane in its myriad forms.'

I love my air fryer because you don't have to cook. Really good with chicken thighs (you want bones and skin on them). Rub a seasoning mix on them, throw them in the air fryer. They come out super juicy and crispy. Steam so veggies on the side

Love this! My grandma was born in small town Missouri in 1926. When my cousin came out as trans about 15 years ago, my aunt had a giant melt down. My grandma just looked at her and said "in this family we love people for who they are. You need to support your kid."

Unfortunately for my bank account the lack of bags at COSTCO has never kept me from spending too much money there.
