watching these depositions has the same feeling as watching the Louis Theroux manosphere documentary.
the format change is doing 75 percent of the work. When the camera pulls back and you're no longer staring at a phone screen it's SO much clearer and more pathetic
"there were no books" Yeah man, we know. I'm sure the bayesian priors didn't work out
it's so striking when you take a person out of the "extremely online" context and force them to explain themselves
two themes a defense journalist friend of mine noticed: 1 - willful ignorance of how Vietnam went down. 2 - a constant drumbeat of "we just have to take the gloves off" without really explaining what that means or why it would change anything
here are both themes in one tweet
This is Nathan Cavanaugh, another DOGE staffer explaining how he flagged grants at NEH for "DEI" which would be reviewed for termination. 404 Media has reviewed hours of this footage and we'll have more soon.

I have watched 6 hours of a DOGE bro deposition. The whole thing, start to finish. It's a fascinating, and horrifying, look at the people who caused so much damage, didn't really achieve anything at all, while still being so sure they are right. Here's what they said: www.404media.co/i-watched-6-...
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

De Telegraaf, the Netherlands’ largest newspaper, recently published an interview with a woman promoting €1,600 seats on private evacuation flights from Dubai. Bellingcat found that her image was likely AI-generated, and flight data suggests no such plane took off. www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/03...
here's a react emoji for everyone
i would not have published this story, as someone who's read literally thousands of threat bulletins cosigned or circulated by the FBI
I do think this gets why, even with less playtime vs Arc, I feel less frustrated by Marathon's PvPvE systems.
My takeaway from Arc was that PvP took me away from the good stealth game I wanted to be playing, but here, Marathon's story and look all feel compatible with its gameplay. It just clicks.
New from 404 Media: here is the memo approving ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot in the Senate. Raises questions about how sensitive data will be handled; memo says staff can use AI in all sorts of work, like drafting, research, etc. Has been approved to use "Senate data" www.404media.co/heres-the-me...
From Flock's nationwide surveillance to ICE tools, we are being watched. Is there anyway to go back now?
"Police love telling each other about the new capabilities and tools that they've acquired, so this tech can spread from city to city very quickly."
A 404 Media guide to surveillance in 2026:
we've got dashcam footage of a Cybertruck's self driving feature failing at the worst possible time: on a Texas overapass
the lawsuit wants $1 million in damages and lays on Tesla's CEO. "Elon Musk is an...irresponsible salesman, who has a long history of making dangerous design choices."
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
NUKEMAP has been experiencing "elevated" usage since the beginning of the Iran war (unsurprisingly). Not yet at the levels seen at the beginning of the Ukraine war in 2022, thankfully (see second image). Servers should hold up much better, though, than they did in 2022...
We got photos and video of the Cybertruck that nearly barreled off an overpass while using full self driving. Lawsuit says Tesla is to blame because Musk has oversold the truck’s ability to drive itself

A Cybertruck owner in Texas is suing Tesla for $1,000,000 in damages for “ grossly negligent conduct” following an accident on a Houston highway that involved the vehicle’s self-driving feature. Here's the dashcam video.

Quittr, an app that promises to help men stop watching porn, leaked intimate data on hundreds of thousands of its users, and lied about its security issues, 404 Media can now reveal. @evystadium.bsky.social has more.
