After a busy day helping to look after the people of Scotland, Henry Plantagenet takes a moment for self care. Be like Henry, look after your wellbeing #CatsinPublicHealth #CatsofBlueSky
Also apologies for any grammatical errors in this thread. Definitely need to check before hitting the button in future!
I’m hoping to post every now and again about it, just to increase the signal a little, to let others know in the future that they’re not alone. 💙
It can be scary living with a rare disease like this. I only got diagnosed 3 months ago, and there’s still a lot of uncertainty ahead. I worry about very different things now. But by educating myself, I feel I can be prepared for whatever happens.
Luckily, advancement in treatments, surgery and awareness has led to LDS patients living their best lives. Medications can slow down the growth of aneurysms, and regular MRA scanning can help plan and manage surgeries to prevent future catastrophes.
Patients often face long delays getting diagnosed. Some may only find out they have it after a family member is diagnosed, others after a medical emergency. Awareness is crucial to help future patients get the right diagnosis.
Patients can have distinctive features that can give clues to geneticist that they might have LDS. However, it’s important to realise not all patients will have these features. Some may present very mildly.
Its most dangerous feature is that it can cause aneurysms to form not just in the aorta, but throughout the entire arterial tree. These aneurysms can rupture at smaller diameters than in other similar disorders, so patients need regular monitoring.
I have Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS). It’s a genetic connective tissue disorder that affects the TGF-β signalling pathway. It’s a cousin of Marfan Syndrome, and shares many overlapping features. It’s diagnosed via genetic testing.
Okay so I don’t want to end up posting just…health related things. But I feel as though I should be doing SOME awareness stuff, because Loeys-Dietz syndrome is rare. Earlier I had to educate another doctor on it today, which makes getting the right treatment a bit of a pain! So here goes..
Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS) is a rare genetic connective tissue disorder that affects multiple organ systems, including the heart, blood vessels, bones, skin, and more.

My goal this year was to do a new painting every month but very quickly running out of January time. So thought I’d start today and see if I can finish by the end of the month. Autumn Plains is my favourite Spyro homeworld 💕

I’ve been collecting Pokémon cards for over a decade now. When I first started I could buy whatever I wanted without scalpers or entitled idiots to contend with. My wonderful LCS just got broken into, along with others in the area, and have specifically had cards stolen. It’s just not fun anymore.
Thankyou so much!! 💕
An old acrylic Red Dead Redemption 2 painting from a few years ago. It’s still one of my faves! The high-honour appears under UV light 🦌 I gifted it to Roger Clark and I will always treasure that moment.

Weekly respiratory infection report from Wales. Influenza increasing; RSV stable but likely to decrease as we come out of peak season, SARS-CoV2 decrease. Everything else stable (enterovirus decrease). Looks like influenza A (H1N1 in Wales) takes winter 2024.
