He lives surrounded by the false grandeur, that is in his mind, of his greatness and deserving, while people are starving, shivering and dying in the streets, begging only for enough sustenance that could fill one of his chalices.

At this rate, the only thing that keeps my book purchases in check, is the knowledge that I have nowhere to put them.

Try local Q+ centers, also!
Lastly, reach out to the local corrections office, municipal court or substance use facility for people that need service hours (non violent only, obvs). Your S/O protects the $$, but they do labor.
Or to offer to offset a purchase ($xx) for a patron to assist.
Maybe via Social Media?
Also, reach out to the local community college to see if a hospitality/business student could use extra credit for the services.
Also, I don't vend at Cons, but is it possible to:

B) Ahead of time, in that locale, search Angis list (or similar) to hire a handy person for the set up/take down
Thank you for sharing!
