It was krautrock. Kraftwerk. Anything colourful and avant-garde. Certainly not Americana. That aesthetic was forged on our hitchhiking trip: travelling into Italy at midnight, visiting historic, mysterious places we’d only heard about. Beauty. Brutalism.
