lotta people saying to donate to food banks which is great, but if that’s not available to you, often they are desperate for volunteers! shifts can be short, a few hours when you’re free, doing stuff like sorting boxes, making sandwiches, or delivering meals, depending on the org

These people are so unpopular that they have to live on a base to just not be mocked and derided daily. They are being driven out of public life. This is the real cancel culture.

I live 100ft away from a retired House rep in his 80s who I see at least monthly at our neighborhood social; he has said to me almost verbatim what Duncan said here. Older members are terrified of walking away from the 20-person 24/7 support network you can't even get in a high end nursing home.

The pundit class can stay out of Maine.

Shay, a well-respected Black female anti-racism educator & Maine writer, hasn't even endorsed in this race, but they're calling her a Nazi sympathizer just because she's writing a series about Platner. This is not coming from Maine.

It’s a state with an older population, a housing crisis chasing young Mainers away, and rich/poor, red/blue split between its Congressional districts. It’s hard to find a younger, uniting presence within all that.

I love what she did during Covid and how she stood up to the admin, but she has terrible record in supporting labor and in fixing some of the larger statewide problems over her two terms.
