In Iceland, on Christmas Eve, people give each other books so they can spend the evening drinking cocoa & reading. It’s called, Jolabokaflod, the Christmas book flood. I’ve never been more in love with Iceland than I am right now ♥️♥️
In case you didn't know, librarians are educated professionals with a master's degree and don't just willy nilly buy any old books for their libraries.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed librarians can change the world.

I'd say I agree except we still have to wait in hold lines for books too! We make it fair and accessible as possible.
I was a preschool teacher before I was a librarian. And the comments I would get about getting to "play" all day with the kids...ugh. if only people really knew!
If I had a dollar for every time someone said or implied that my job as a librarian is really easy because libraries are quiet and all I do is read all day, I wouldn't have to work. I WISH I had time to even read a chapter of a book. But librarians do WAY more than reading. Don't get it twisted.

Too many people haven’t touched a book since they graduated high school and it shows.
Libraries feel like something about which we could very easily be saying, “Remember that place where you could borrow books, for FREE, and return them when you were finished?” And kids would say “What?? No way!” And yet there they still are, despite everything we’ve become, existing. Remarkable.
i either read for 8 hours straight or don’t touch a book for 8 months there is no in between
