I think if they did a custom design that fits in the game's universe it would be much more well received, but they never do that and so the non-sims designs always stick out and feel very uncanny valley.

Yeah, I mean, they need to make money of course but it's probably better to diversify in terms of video sponsors, and stay away from more long-term partnerships like the EACN where you get all the backlash for being affiliated but none of the protections of being an actual employee of the company.

Tbh I think the big creators leaving changed everything. It also highlighted how dangerous it is for your own platform if you align yourself too closely with one company. It's very close to being a gig worker and you're building your platform on a shaky foundation. I think the smart move

This statement is damage control and deflecting: we know the sims will not change and they will not retroactively change anything. We just don't want to give money to EA's new owners, and creators, understandably, don't want to promote their games to make them richer. It's two different things.
