A Times Article showing a photo of Alex Honnold soloing El Cap with the title: 'Expert strategies to enable you to become your own boss'

I'm going to be honest. I'm not sure I'm up for soling Freerider even if it does allow me to set my own hours.

Appreciate you fighting the good fight for nominative determinism.*

* My apologies if this is the 10,000tht one you've heard this joke.

So because we're away on holiday, we watched an episode of ER (which we've been watching on DVD at home) on Netflix last night and it looked like absolute dog shit.

Hadn't really appreciated how little care streamers take with the presentation of licensed shows.

A long, undulating rocky ridge extending into the distance. A woman in a climbing helmet and harness looking back at an earlier section of ridge. A woman climbing a very thin fin of rock towards the camera. A view back along the Bernia ridge from the summit of the Bernia, showing the coastline of the Costa Blanca in the background.

Quite the day climbing the Bernia ridge.

Me feet hurt.

We used to occasionally splash out the extra 30 cence for Cruzcampo. Hilarious to me that it's now attempting to be a trendy brand in the UK.

A large bottle of 'Argus Clásica' beer and a half-full glass next to it.

I used to buy this on climbing trips to Spain as a student.

Pleased to learn it's still less than 1 Euro a bottle and is still just about drinkable.

Spain: truly one of the world's greatest nations.

James is, of course, famously slow to post about the shortcomings of the Labour Party or what they should be doing differently...

A man in a fluorescent top and shorts standing on a trail amidst cloud and shrubs. A curving concrete trail descending a hillside next to a ruined building. A terraced orchard with a mix of trees showing green and grey leaves. A close up of a pretty plant. It kind of looks like an asparagus stem where the flowers haven't opened.

Rain still being a pain, but it just about cleared for the descent on our afternoon run.

I get round this by only having heard short extracts as interstitials on the Sabaton album of the same name.

A woman surmounting a rise on a rocky ridge which falls away behind her. A figure in red atop a rocky pinnacle in the middle of a ridge. Two smiling faces in climbing helmets. A figure outlined against the sky as they abseil towards the camera past a large round hole passing all the way through a rocky ridge.

3rd day of being insufferable. This time on a ridge.

Regular viewers will be pleased to hear that rain has been forecast for tomorrow.

A hillside with a striking line of red rock running away from the camera towards the summit. A runner descends this towards the camera. The view in the other direction of that same hillside showing the line of rock continuing down towards the sea and a striking coastline of cliffs. The ruins of a circular castle.

In continuing being insufferable news: Running!

A swimming pool with the shadows of palm trees on its surface. In the background is a large rocky pinnacle. A long limestone escarpment. Climbers ascending a steep wall of limestone.

Just to warn you all:

I'm about to be insufferable for roughly the next week.

Ukrainian Mountaineer and Combat Medic Who Saved Many Lives Dies in Battle Vlodymyr Vasylyshyn, 33, had signed up for a ski mountaineering competition on the day of his death.

"His greatest goal was Mount Manaslu in the Himalayas. He had plans to attempt Manaslu in 2022, but joined the army instead when Russia invaded Ukraine."

War steals futures. It kills dreams along with the dreamers.

Fuck Putin.

We need an investigation into why so many former Lib Dems get radicalised.

Feel like it probably has something to do with seeing yourself as an outsider to the 'mainstream' parties and shifting your views to remain iconoclastic (in your mind at least) as the mainstream shifts.

My pet theory is that part of the reason ChatGPT had such huge uptake is because the major players have spent years degrading the quality of their own search engines to the point where a product that recreates the speed at which you used to be able to find the same information seems revelatory.
