The first "Women's Day" was celebrated by the Socialist Party of America in 1909 in NYC by labor organizer Theresa Malkiel Coming off the heels of the suffragette movement, the day marked that the struggle against patriarchy and capitalism are intertwined SOCIALIST PARTY WORKERS of the WORLD UNITE!

Earlier this year, genocide scholars (including the former president of the International Association of Genocide Scholars) began sounding alarms that the United States may be in the early stages of a genocide against transgender people. The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and Human Security issued a “Red Flag Alert” due to the increased anti-trans rhetoric and legislation across the nation.  It is in this context that the Kansas state legislature ramped up their years-long crusade to eliminate trans people from society. In order to ram the bill through without pushback, these legislators used an anti-democratic maneuver which is used so often that it has its own name. The “gut and go” maneuver is a tactic in which legislators introduce a bill and then replace its contents through “amendments.” This skirts opportunities for public input and limits other legislators from deliberation. The Republicans then used their super majority to push the bill through as quickly as possible.
