The only Mario Lego set I got was Bowser with his purple car because I love Bowser and he's really cute as a brick built character and his big ass size is pretty fitting with the other figs I got in my city
But he's the only character from the sets I like the look of 😭
I also wonder if there's some desire to make Mario more fitting with the other video game sets since Animal Crossing, Sonic, Zelda, and Minecraft all have minifigs for their characters and they got sick of all the people (like me) complaining about Mario characters being so awkwardly big
I wonder if the reason we're FINALLY getting official Mario minifigs next year is because Lego has that smart bricks thingy now so they're gonna use it for interactive block stuff since I know the original Mario sets were like that bc they wanted to make playing with Mario a more unique experience
