Sites up, but the feeds are down.
No ETA till I can figure out what's going on.
You will just have to sit on the runway and wait for the dumpster fire to restart... Sorry for the delay.

Oh. You have to lose everything from your #wardrive and update the app from the Store....
Sad but working.
Hmmm, 5 hours later and still not working...
But they are clearly working on it. So grateful for the effort they all put into it.
Hey @wiglenet
If you don't know, your app uploader is currently broken.
It says "Unable to connect to WiGLE". Also, if you try to check rank, etc, under that menu, you get a broken connection icon.
#AllTheWiFi some of the time. #wardrive but not just now.
Lastly, I'm looking to get my butt back on a motorcycle in the new year, so I am already thinking about how to set up 2-3 of the wardriving rigs on it. Won't be for in town, so no big numbers, but remote / rural rides, so will be getting out of town WiFi. Vibration-proof high gain!

Speaking of the website, I've done a massive brain dump of everything I can remember about #wardriving over the past 10+ years.

It was a great way to test out the #wiglefin 2.0. (Yes, it was in my checked baggage).
Here is a sneak peek of it on the rental.
Overall, I like it a lotβvery sleek and a much cleaner look.
Going to probably rework the hatch a bit before I put it up on the website for all to use.

Stoked to have the last day such a big one. #AllTheWiFi
Pretty much the whole 5h30m was driving, and most of it was on new (no purple) ground, very high-density housing (I like a LOT more space and less/no HOA, but that's just me).
Lots of snow and ice on the roads, which was new for me.

Back at the hotel from 5h 30m 88 mile #wardrive
Got great news that will take life in a different direction, one that has a ton less travel and driving in it, so in some ways today was my last official 100% wardrive day.
Of course, I am still going to have the rigs running every time I drive.

It's a busy morning in the skies over the oceans.
Satcom feeds are working well (yeah, yeah, other than my C-Band dish - I'm working on it, will share details soon).

Another busy week. The kitchen is as finished as we can do it at this point, so it's finally time to try and get my workshop into useful shape.
Buddy came over and helped build a 6x10 foot (11 foot high off the floor) storage area.
I need a LOT more floor space cleared up before I can build out.
If you don't open it, do you even own it?
And yes, along with removing the dead battery, I am going to give it a blow job.
My name is @thebaldgeek, and I void warranties.
I just now signed off on the #wiglefin v2 renders.
First articles will be in hand around Thanksgiving.
Field testing and then if happy, post STL files to my #wardriving #AllTheWiFi blog: k6thebaldgeek.blogsp...
I don't generally post much 'life' stuff since ACARS is so interesting and busy, but the last few months have been all about house repairs, renos, and such.
Here I am just now oiling the wife's new butcher's block kitchen counter top.
It's been 5 months and 2 days since we moved in. Bleh.
Far out! My first ever northern lights!!!!!!
Northern Idaho for the win.
Just breathing down dinner and then will jump in the car and drive out of town.
#Aurora
Finally got time to get on the shop roof and tweak the antenna farm this afternoon. Lifted my ADSB about 3 feet.
Also installed the two GPS puck antennas.
1 for C-Band GPSDO LNB downconverter.
1 for my Stratium one-time server for all the aircraft data.
A really big solar storm is causing a major RF blackout.
HFDL (ACARS on the HF bands) is taking a big hit.
I don't think many people know about this page on my site...

Active ground stations, military ACARS msg, and blackout map.
My 98w C-Band ADSC dish is still not fully back in action yet - I have a plan and am working on it.
In the meantime, here is a screenshot of the 3 Inmarsat feeds we currently have going into the system.

Yeah, getting my rig dialed and had some good drives. Going to be a slow finish to the month as I have some life stuff going on.

Thanks to a Reddit thread, the idea for an 'Everything' button on the trackmap page was conceived.
Do be aware that it really makes my laptop fan max out! It's a pretty heavy CPU/GPU page.

@se.gfau.lt or others... feel free to jump in and help out.
It's been suggested that I add a section to my blog about the @wiglenet Android app settings.
I think it's a great idea. One setting I'm stuck on....
The GPS update rate. Specificly, why the option to 'sync with wifi'.
What's this about? Anyone?

Website Update:
Far out! Fell asleep to the sound of the wind, looking at the damage, it got worse early AM.
It's going to take me a few days to get 98w back on its feet and feeding data.
Upgrades were planned; now plans are accelerated.
North Idaho's weather is not like California's no-weather.
Screenshot of the ADSC and ACARS aircraft we are tracking and plotting their positions.
Link to the map is here, but do take a moment to read how this is VERY different to every other flight tracking site on the Internet...

Great answer! Even more complicated than documented or as I thought...
21.10.2025 03:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Can anyone explain why the @jhewitt.net wardriver UK scans channels 1,6,11 and 14 when @wiglenet stats page shows the most popular are channels 1,6, 11 and 3 ???
@463n7_57 I assume the Signal Sleuth does the same 4?

#wardrive #AllTheWiFi
After finding the wardriver UK and Signal Sleuth (aka, all ESP32 and BW16 builds) severely lacking in senstivity (ie, they are stone deaf) I'm working with my CAD guy to revisit the #WigleFin. Looking at a bottom load option for a cleaner (more weather resistant) look.
Oh and a landscape option....
Website Uptate:
The feeds are back up and the status page is now more live/accurate.
I'm still having issues with 98w C-Band (ADSC and ACARS). That's a mechnical issue with the satellite dish. I have a plan, Im working on it, at least L-Band is Ok from Inmarsat 4F3 via the #DiscoveryDish
What started as a bit of a hobby on looking at why aircraft fly different paths from time to time, sure has grown.
I had no idea that @CNN were looking at the site / data.
Pretty interesting: www.cnn.com/2025/10/...
ADSB is there where.
ACARS is the why.
Another guy DM'ed me that putting 8's on his #jhewitt units really woke them up.
The trouble I have is even with a 12dbi antenna on them, they are still constantly 1000's below the S20 Android.
