Agree! I've explained it like this:

When a character dies in a P2E game, that just happens. It's a game.

When a character dies in a 5E game, I (a DM) probably really wanted to have that character die and had to pull some shit to make it happen.

I want to be involved more in the activities of the game store, but we only have one vehicle right now, so it's difficult to get out there.

Noted with a friend last night that I haven't been to my favorite game store in over 6 months.

Part of it has been a battle with depression. But the other side of the coin is just the fact that I have what I need right now. The games, the TTRPGs, the Minis, I've got what I need, and that's ok.

It's funny how it is so easily forgotten that "A Deal", and a "Good" deal, requires the agreeing parties to provide value for the others in the deal, and not just themselves.

I find points in Satisfactory absolutely suck and feel like they're roadblocks.

That's how it should be.

When I'm ready to go to sleep, I put my phone (my alarm device) far enough away from reach that I have to get up to get it. Sometimes it's in the bathroom or next room over.

This doesn't work for everyone, but physically moving helps me.

A trillion dollars? I think I'd start a game studio. Make games without being focused on the bottom line.

BTW, I'm a professional marketer, data analyst, document controller, and amateur economist. I don't know everything, but if you have any thoughts about this, I'd love to know them.

If the US Gov wants to be serious about data protection, they need to enforce that across the board.

They're of course, not doing that. So jumping ship from the big competitors is a must.

Due to that inseparable nature, I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I'm working on grabbing contact information from people I really want to keep up with, and I'm working on deactivating my Meta apps. Already abandoned twitter for the most part too, but we'll continue doing that.

Bluntly, I'm trying to say that there is some legit concern about data safety, but a ban is inseparable from lazy laws and economic protectionism.

I think there's a lot of this in which the Occam's Razor is simply this: a ban is easy. It's lazy legislation for trying to dodge legal protection for the artificial protection of citizen's data and economy surrounding US based social media.

It's also convenient for big social media corps like Meta to have a major competitor wiped off the table. I'm not sure if banning TikTok is about silencing people's voices (as it largely hosted many contrasting viewpoints and positions, many times to a fault), but it does kill a competitor.

TikTok has an algorithm that's unmatched and industry leading. It's nuanced and scarily precise. It's likely better than anything Meta and Amazon has tried to produce, which is already obscene to consider.

Banning TikTok is just the easy way out for US lawmakers instead of addressing data privacy.
