My PhD thesis is "Efficient Cluster Compensation for Lin-Kernighan Heuristics".
Don't rely on me regarding Hong Kong geography.
This entire thread is absolute gold, and I want to highlight that last part: "Ph.D.s are about depth... in ONE SINGLE TINY TOPIC."
This matters because the PhD, as indicated in every hooding ceremony, demonstrates that the degree holder has made an original contribution to THEIR FIELD OF STUDY.
OH BOY do I have thoughts about "Ph.D.-level expert"!
But let me start by saying that it doesn't matter how you FEEL while talking to the machine. The better the FEELING, the worse off you are as a human being when it spews bullshit nonsense. So this is just a better scam.

Goddamn. What a sobering and poignant piece of conceptual art. What an amazing artist.

The other day I used the word verisimilitude on a camping trip. I had to explain it. I was called a weirdo.

And sometimes Chet Baker if you're feeling blue.
If you want to f with them make up a name like Buddy Jenkins.
My wife would hate that question. When we leave the house she asks the smart speaker to play "upbeat jazz" for the dogs.
I had it in Osaka!
07.08.2025 10:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That seems unrealistic to me. Like, why doesn't the underside of the Gardiner look like that (where Lakeshore isn't there)

I haven't paid attention and I had thought it was to go under it, like north south. Whoops

9bit units are common in FPGAs.
Telecom was 40% of the market (when I left the industry in 2014) and used an embedded parity bit enough in the data stream that a bunch of things are multiples of 9bits. E.g. embedded block RAMs.
But you generally program them in a hw language like Verilog or VHDL.
Same.
We've drifted to an 8pm dinner time with our two adult kids having their own schedules etc.
So youโre telling me the Wizard of Oz presented itself as a towering force of overwhelming technology, only to be unmasked as just some guy, off-screen?
