IMA. What is a share code? The UK Government gives people a unique share code to securely prove their immigration status. Here is an example: SB9 3NG ZKE. A person can write down their share code, screenshot it, print it out, email it, or say the code over the phone. It remains valid for 90 days. How to check someone’s share code. Go to GOV.UK and use the ‘Check someone’s immigration status: use their share code’ service at: www.gov.uk/check-immigration-status. Enter the share code and the person’s date of birth. Then enter who is doing the check and select the reason. You will see the information you need to check their status. Post image

If you need to quickly and easily explain what a share code is, and how someone can check it for you, download or screenshot our digital info card to keep on your phone: https://orlo.uk/09Q8Z

We want to reassure citizens whose rights are protected under the Withdrawal and Separation Agreements that the IMA remains fully committed to its role in monitoring and enforcing those rights in Gibraltar, as elsewhere and will provide further updates on this matter.

We will be particularly interested in examining the provisions relating to residence rights, right of entry, and frontier worker arrangements, to understand how these might interact with the rights under the Withdrawal and Separation Agreements.

While the IMA has no role in relation to this new Treaty we will be carefully reviewing the text to understand what, if any, implications it might have for EU citizens who live and work in Gibraltar with rights under the Withdrawal and Separation Agreements.
