We still have a few places left 🤗🌈
👋 Hi #AcademicSky!
Together with @smbe-idea.bsky.social I’m organizing a symposium at #SMBE2026 (Copenhagen) 🇩🇰
🌈 Our mission is to 𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 & 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
📣 Call for abstracts 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡
⏰ Deadline: 𝗙𝗲𝗯 𝟯
✨ Hope to see you there! 😉

Join the DZG Graduate Meeting in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Hamburg, March 25-27, 2026. Theme: Interactions and Coevolution. PhD students & early postdocs can register. More info: https://www.biologie.uni-hamburg.de/en/forschung/evolutionaere-immungenomik/dzg-meeting.html #conference
Step back and think about this…it’s INCREDIBLE
We can sequence DNA from an extinct species that’s been dead for thousands of years. Not only that, we can sequence DNA from another extinct species that first extinct species ate as its last meal…to learn about population dynamics of the extinct prey.
A fantastic meeting is coming 🥳
This year DZG Evo Bio Graduate meeting will be in Hamburg, chase the red queen 🍎 @dzg-evol.bsky.social
Really grateful to the people in Hamburg for hosting the graduate meeting this year. Join them it will be great!

I participated in the amazing PopGroup @popgroup2026.bsky.social for the first time in Lille, and it was a great experience to present my work for the first time.
Many thanks to everyone who organized and participated.
I am already very excited for the next ones!

On the 100th anniversary of the #ScopesMonkeyTrial
the ways we depict #evolution can still give an erroneous progressive view (that evolution leads to humans or ‘increased complexity’).

🌾 Agriculture didn’t always spread with mobility of people.
New ancient DNA research shows that in western Anatolia, while communities stayed put, farming and village life spread through the movement of ideas and practices.

Marmosets are diverse in morphology and diet. We study these differences through an evolutionary lens and implications for marmoset conservation and husbandry. This work took 10 years thru major world events, moving across three continents, and driving all over Brazil. Check out the pre-print!
This is a great opportunity to compare the headline they use to get you to click through to the actual substance of the article.
These aren't dire wolves. They're gene-edited "99.9% grey wolves." This isn't a scientific breakthrough, it's CRISPR editing with a marketing wing.
We just succeeded in formally linking a specific rodent species - the otherwise charming fire-footed rope squirrel - to the onset of a mpox outbreak in a primate species - sooty mangabeys. Here Kai’s report on the preprint we released yesterday 1/2
Not really my announcement to make--I am but a lesser co-author--but IQ-TREE 3 has just been released!
