The right and the left in the US are so far apart, they literally cannot even fathom the goals of the other side. We're not talking about a 5% difference in marginal tax rates or whatever. We're talking about a foundational difference in what the government's role in daily life is.

They want to completely repeal the ACA, and if they could get rid of Medicare and Medicaid without getting their own constituents too mad, they would do that too (as it is, they deny Medicaid expansion whenever they can). Ditto for Social Security.

Anyone who thinks the Republicans actually want to "fix" healthcare with government/legislation hasn't been listening. They want government 100% out of healthcare, they view government's involvement in healthcare as the root cause of the problems with healthcare.

They are really pushing the envelope on defying the courts, and if at some point soon they say "a judge can't force us to adhere to a ruling" and carry on as they please, don't be shocked.
