Heywood’s grave.
Ernest Frederick Heywood landed in Normandy with the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Bn at 00:50 on D-Day. He was wounded in battle and brought back to Southampton where he died in hospital on 14 June 1944, eight days after D-Day. He was laid to rest in Hollybrook Cemetery.

The Cenotaph covered in flowers after being unveiled in November 1920.
I was disgusted to see photos of the anti-immigration protestors climbing on and trampling all over this part of the Cenotaph yesterday. Using Southampton’s main war memorial and symbol of remembrance as a platform to call for mass deportations is, in my opinion, utterly obscene.

MCC have removed their portrait of Donald Trump from the Long Room due to Trump being a “blaggardly rotter of the worst sort”.
The painting depicts Trump when he played for The Rest of the World against an Old England XI at Lord’s in 1987.

SS Suevic ran aground in 1907. She was cut in two and the stern was towed to Southampton. A new bow was made by Harland & Wolff in Belfast and towed to Southampton, where she was later rebuilt.

I got out 🚶🏻♀️ this morning before the madding crowds woke up. I had the best views and the quietest time along a popular tourist route. The Langdale Pikes looked majestic, and the light was divine. Enjoy 😊
