13.11.2025 18:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Astounding. I'm having trouble finding enough words to adequately describe the astronomic level of fuck-wittery demonstrated by the Senate Democrats with their greater than usual delusional master-class aplomb. It's as if they're suffering mass dementia and have no idea who the GOP are.

08.11.2025 18:39 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ageism toward politicians is fair game.
Ageism toward people who can't afford to retire because of the continuous, ever-increasing shitshow they've been handed is not.
Seems like people ought to learn the difference.

They're unfit due to the first two points; no more had to be said. The last three are fine:
β’ Many people talk to their plants; concerns are only valid if the person claims the plants talk back
β’ A lot of religions participate in full moon rituals
β’ Psilocybin therapy is a legitimate area of study

Trump accomplished, to Republican applause, what the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 gave up their lives to prevent.

02.10.2025 18:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0...before you get hysterical and accuse someone of dEfEnDiNg aUtHoRiTarIaNs, maybe you should learn how the Senate works and explore other scenarios before jumping to the conclusion that a rational supposition about Senate manoeuvering is somehow a defense of the indefensible.
01.10.2025 22:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0...they would have done it yesterday. But they didn't, because that would give Democrats the opening to nuke the filibuster next time they want to pass a government spending bill for Medicare For All, housing stabilisation, paid parental leave, and everything else a decent society wants.
So...
...excluding SCotUS nominations. The Republicans used that as excuse to take it a step further in 2017 to nuke the filibuster for SCotUS nominations. See how great that turned out for us?
If the GQP were going to nuke the filibuster for the government spending bill,...
Knowing Senate rules and procedures isn't "defending authoritarians", you fucking muppet.
Using the "nuclear option" for confirmations is hardly new. It's been escalating since at least 2013, when the Democratic-controlled Senate eliminated the 60 vote threshold for presidential nominations,...
There is nothing "simple" about waiving the filibuster for this sort of spending bill. Waiving the filibuster for it still requires 51 votes, but it brings with it a terrible precedent, should there ever be another Democrat-controlled Senate. That's why they haven't brought it up for this bill.
01.10.2025 00:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0In the Senate, for most things, 60 votes is needed for cloture. Meaning, to close debate and move to voting. This is the procedural step that people usually mean when they say "filibuster".

21.09.2025 20:21 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Every House and Senate Democratic "yea" or "present" vote for this proclamation feels like a betrayal. The notion that they will somehow gain political points for this is delusional. What is the point of the voting for Democrats if they're only going to represent and cater to Republicans?

Hope this helps!
@raskin.house.gov If the Dem leadership in Congress is just going to continually try to appease and cater to the MAGA & GOP bases, what's the point in voting?
You will never win them over.
They will always play you.
And alienating the entirety of "the Left" chasing them won't win you elections.
He tried this back in 2020, too. Seems like a lifetime ago. Unfortunately, we no longer have a serious FBI Director to ignore the absurdity of labeling an ideology a "terrorist organization".
