At home. I’m in Vancouver
I miss my dog
The hysterical thing about the manufactured woke banknotes furore is …
when was the last time you saw a banknote?
Because I use contactless for EVERYTHING and I can’t remember the last time I saw one in the wild.

Land and Expand - how Palantir captured the Ministry of Defence
What a close reading of public domain documents tells us about two concerning contract awards
Detailed post by me, following-up on my FT column

'some creative arts graduates don’t appear to earn a significant graduate premium, but the UK’s creative industries are worth £125bn a year or, to put it another way, more than £1 in every £20 in the UK economy – a larger proportion of the nation’s wealth than almost any other country on earth.' 1/3
We have awarded these people contracts in the Ministry of Defence. What the fuck are we doing.
Oh Canada….
here I come! Heading for the Association for Asian Studies conference in Vancouver, where my book will be awarded the 2026 Coomaraswamy Prize ❤️
looking forward to running along the beautiful waterfront too, and seeing one of my oldest bestest friends Gage Averill.

🚨 WATCH: Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the jury trial reforms
"I waited 1,088 days to go to court. We've been told [by the Government] that if we have concerns about this Bill, it's because we've not been raped"

I'm also looking a new research assistant/postdoc to conduct image analysis of the medieval Insular music corpus recovered within the project. See: www.timeshighereducation.com/unijobs/list...
I can't compete with this.
SUCH a great thread. My grandmother didn’t get paid to work after she married, but she married a clergyman. Everyone knew that was a twofer. She worked full time unpaid in the parish as the minister’s wife (and mother of four).
My other grandmother bred horses and ran the dairy.
Thanks David. It went some way.

I think about this a lot
It’s second Sunday of the month, and this afternoon just off of Trafalgar Square, I’ll be running Captain Dan’s laundry for homeless, vulnerable, and/or destitute asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants
