05.10.2025 20:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That stuff is so weird
05.10.2025 20:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0More complicated than that. There are UK evangelicals who are very firmly on the left
05.10.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wrong Sc/hofield. Fine.
My actual point was that political UK evangelicals are different and that these need to be understood. But certain sectors of politically aligned evangelicals in the UK are absolutely not benign, Paul Marshall included. I donβt have a political issue as such with HTB.
Yes but sheβs US based. UK evangelicals are very different, as is their relationship with politics. The nuances are important to understand.
05.10.2025 20:23 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Are you referring to me in that sentence?
05.10.2025 20:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It is the kind of thing that absolutely does not work in the UK, where people are dramatically less religious
05.10.2025 18:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am not sure itβs anyone, but it jolly well should be because there is an urgent need for a sociology of the nexus between conservative evangelicalism and right-wing politics in this country, given the influx of huge amounts of dark money to disrupt our democracy. Hit me up if thatβs you.
05.10.2025 18:12 β π 14 π 3 π¬ 5 π 0Honest to god, pun both intended and not intended, it is about time that SOMEBODY who understands UK evangelicals and their much more complicated relationship with politics than their US Christian nationalist brethren, started commenting. Because otherwise itβs all bullshit.
(That person is not me)
Absolutely not. The Salvation Army were always concerned with feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, and clothing the poor. They still are.

These people so dramatically misunderstand British culture itβs embarrassing. They can only be paid to do this β they would die of shame otherwise even if they believe this crap

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.
After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls Iβve ever had, asking βSo when are you coming to pick up your owl?β π§΅
