Anyone can nominate a fellow Canadian for the Order of Canada. There is an online form and an independent panel that decides who deserves one. It isn't up to the Prime Minister or some petition. This is just divisive political grandstanding. #cdnpoli toronto.citynews.ca/2026/03/14/p...

Dear Team Canada — Day 289 — Will You Please Shut Up? The Carney Letters — an unauthorized series by Wayne Horton

This is superb. Wayne Horton may have invented a new genre of journalism. This is a deeply informed, wonderfully enlightening essay on how to behave in bad faith negotiations, as well as a perfect reading of Carney's manner and thinking, and it's satire. It is explanatory parody. And it's right.

With Trump wildly firing off tariff threats (on Canadian aerospace, Cuba trade, and any other pet peeve), this is a regular reminder that his policies are a self-inflicted wound on US manufacturing. US lost 72K mfg jobs since he started the tariff wars. Canada gained 16K. #cdnecon #canlab

The forces of American fascism are accelerating their attempts at consolidating tyranny. Beyond the horrors inflicted on peaceful Americans, MAGA will work hard to undermine Canadian unity and peace.

They will flood us with disinformation and hate. Don't fall for it.

We’ve placed the available videos of the shooting of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis today into the same synchronised timeline and are continuing to analyse further.

Stella Carlson said that before the shooting, the man was helping vehicle traffic get around the area where ICE agents and observers had started to gather.
"The gentleman I was standing next to was focused on helping people who were coming into Nicollet Avenue understand that they needed to take it slow and helping them get through. The ICE agents approached us, told us to back up, back up. I'm not even sure why we were helping them, if anything. And I got on the snow bank, and next thing I knew, they shot him," Carlson said.

Fact check: The US trades a lot more with China than Canada does - not just in absolute $ but also relative to each country's total trade.

* US trade with China = 10.9% of total US trade

* Canada's trade with China = 7.9% of total Canadian trade

Mark Carney:
"Stop invoking the “rules-based international order” as though it still functions as advertised. Call the system what it is: a period where the most powerful pursue their interests using economic integration as a weapon of coercion."

We have been a close and loyal friend of the United States for generations.
We have stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. We have taken responsibility for security in the North Atlantic - and not least for North America. That is what true friends do.
Precisely for that reason, the current and repeated rhetoric coming from the United States is entirely unacceptable.
When the President of the United States speaks of "needing Greenland" and links us to Venezuela and military intervention, it is not only wrong. It is disrespectful. Our country is not an object in great-power rhetoric. We are a people. A country. A democracy. That must be respected — especially by close and loyal friends.
We are part of NATO, and we are fully aware of our country's strategic location. We also understand that our security depends on good friends and strong alliances. In that context, a respectful and loyal relationship with the United States is very important.
That has been the case for decades.
But alliances are built on trust. And trust requires respect. Threats, pressure, and talk of annexation have no place between friends. That is not how one speaks to a people who have repeatedly demonstrated responsibility, stability, and loyalty.
Enough is enough.
No more pressure.
No more insinuations.
No more fantasies of annexation.
We are open to dialogue. We are open to conversations. But they must take place through the proper channels and in full respect of international law.
And the proper channels are not random and disrespectful posts on social media.
Greenland is our home and our territory. And it will remain so.

The Prime Minister of Greenland Jens-Frederik Nielsen to the United States:

“Enough is enough.”

An immensely tired & uninformed take.

Canada currently:

- exports >4x Venezuelan crude shipments

- that supply is linked to American refineries by pipelines that travel one direction (south)

- no one is rushing into Venezuela to roll the dice *again* on whoever replaces Maduro
