A great read for the bank holiday weekend 📘 – our latest report, part of the Safety Nets collaboration with @resfoundation.bsky.social, looks at how the Household Support Fund can work better long-term.

Just because local welfare has dry names, like HSF, doesn't mean it's not interesting!
As part our @safety-nets.bsky.social project, our collaborators at @resfoundation.bsky.social have led this report on the Household Support Fund. The excellent @alexclegg.bsky.social outlines more below👇

Our new analysis with @resfoundation.bsky.social @safety-nets.bsky.social @changingrealities.bsky.social sets out the place crisis support can and should play & why it needs reform. [spoiler: it's no replacement for wider investment in social security]
This was the second of 14 workshops covering 8 key topics

The Safety Nets team had a productive away day last week in beautiful Edinburgh - thanks to @haylesben.bsky.social for organising the venue!
Great to advance plans across our 4 workstreams. Updates coming soon - watch this space!
Late (but splendid) train north to join the @nuffieldfoundation.org funded @safety-nets.bsky.social crew in Edinburgh for our away day tomorrow. Excited to reflect on what we’ve done so far, & to plan what we’re doing next safetynets.study
A lovely @safety-nets.bsky.social away day in Edinburgh today working on project ideas and outputs. Some great discussions with great colleagues
I've been in sunny (!) Edinburgh for 24 hours along with the rest of the @safety-nets.bsky.social crew.
IMO there is more need than ever to recognise that we do not have a UK-wide social security system, nor do we have clean lines of devolution to nations or delegation to local authorities.
@safety-nets.bsky.social project now recruiting participants from devolved nations to explore social security across the UK. Seeking parents/carers of children under 18, who receive social security benefits (incl asylum support), for online workshops. £50 voucher as thanks.
