I’ve also noticed that around my friends/gays/poc/etc that I hide my accent a bit bc I don’t want them to think I’m ~like that~ but it comes back real strong around White Guys Who I Need To Like Me eg getting my car fixed etc. the Southern Accent™ has a wildly different effect on different people
honestly as someone conservative-passing due to white/dress/southern twang I just hope that people get that I’m not by the way I go about the world and treat other people and I hope that that’s enough
