Mimbres School will be in attendance at the ACLA in Montreal next year Feb 26 - Mar 1. We'll probably rent a big house and hold some functions. See you there.

I'm having trouble tracking down well-sourced quotations in which Abraham Lincoln comments directly on monetary politics and the greenbacks. There are a lot of fake quotations circulating. He's pretty laconic in Spaulding. Appreciate any good sources for Lincoln on greenbacks

You can also apply to this if you aren't a graduate student, but you ought to have an equivalently serious research project

If you are a current graduate student working in an area of interest of the Mimbres School faculty, you may be interested in our new Directed Reading offering. This will be most helpful to students in the early stages of their research projects.

I know it's often invoked in this way but the question is why, if Marx really had a more sophisticated view in this text, he returns to the other view he always had in Capital and insists on it as if nothing happened.

I see Marx's project in this text as trying to save his idealist theory of history from empirical embarrassment rather than articulating a real alternative to it. Nap III is a symptom of the incomplete liquidation of the french small holders whose contradiction he will work out to complete the state

It is central to Marx's view that capitalist actors are bearers of the abstract compulsion of capital's immanent law. drawing a distinction between capital and capitalists as you do fundamentally breaks with his social ontology. That's good! his ontology sucks!

He doesn't post here often and he would dislike a lot of people and be disliked in turn, but @drumm-colin.bsky.social and his colleagues at mimbres do a lot interesting work here. Unlike Zohran Mamdani, he would absolutely impose woke sharia. .

My essay "Money is a thing: coins and bills in late medieval Europe" is now out in the Research Handbook on Law and Political Economy. This is a relatively concise statement of the numismatic (i.e. anti-chartalist) view of medieval European money. I hope it's of interest and use.
