Collaborative research works best when ideas, tools, and frameworks can be shared and adapted across different communities. The “forking mindset” offers a good way to think about how open science can be implemented across various research communities.
The winter 2026 NNA REU took place at the Alaska Forum. Seven students from across Alaska presented research on mariculture in Prince William Sound, water temperature impacts on fish & subsistence, and community storytelling. Our next cohort will take place during our annual meeting in September.
