Never having heard of such a bizarre thing Chrome can only stare at her.

As another sign of trust, they removed their second hand from protecting their pod and gave a wave with both hands. They hoped that they would not come to regret this.

They offered another series of rhythmic beeps, soft and consistent as their own posture relaxed slightly.
As a newly forming entity, they decided to trust this stranger and /hope/ that things would continue in a positive manner. --->

The detected hesitance in their sounds and the friendly gesture of a wave indicated that perhaps this entity was in fact nonhostile.
Returning the friendly gesture, the hobgoblin slowly removed one hand from protecting their radiolaria pod and waved back. --->

Deciding something on their own was daunting, but with no collective to back them up they really didn’t have a choice. This individual made Eliksni sounds yet had made no aggressive moves. --->

Maya Sundaresh did not appear to be any conventional Vex unit, yet she had integrated herself into their systems with ease and assumed control, and for a while the collective had then perceived her as Vex. --->

The Hobgoblin tilted its head as once again their unexpected guest made sounds it knew to be Eliksni. This confused the vex, this being did not look like any known Eliksni, but it knew better than to make detailed judgements on outward appearance. --->

Curiously they beeped at her, noticing that she was holding something. Cautiously they raised a hand and pointed at what she was holding, giving a curious couple of beeps and whines in quick, playful succession.

She had also taken off her helmet, that was surely another sign of being nonhostile! They felt a little more relaxed as they observed her behaviour, but still not entirely comfortable. More observation would be needed. --->

Relief gurgled through the vex as they watched their unexpected company mirrored their gesture. That was a good sign! If she had been hostile she wouldn’t have taken the time to wave. --->

but found their scanning range to be severely limited due to the fungal interference of the Kelper growths.
Unable to verbalise a response that the other would understand, the emitted a series of rhythmic beeps to try and establish a calm atmosphere.

The ones they had encountered so far were hostile and needlessly aggressive, an unfortunate encounter if indeed it was an Eliksni approaching. On instinct they brought their hands up to protect their radiolarian pod as they tried to scan in the direction they had detected the voice coming from, --->

Startled by the sudden voice, the Vex hobgoblin tried to make themself smaller as they pressed against the wall they had been leaning against.
‘Velask’ was part of the language used by the ones known as Eliksni. --->

They only hoped the other would reciprocate in kind.
Watching the other carefully, the hobgoblin dared to raise a hand and wave cautiously.

With the intruder now in close proximity, the Vex unit was unsure of how to react. Base protocol demanded hostile action, but it's new, stronger train if thought demanded pacifism. --->

Startled by the sudden intrusion, the hobogoblim visibly jumped and pressed itself further into the corner it was already trying to hide in. It must have been more damaged than it thought, it hasn't even been able to detect movement until it was too late. --->

Kepler had been an eye opening exoerience. After seeing how Maya had treated her Vex branching into individuals, the hobgoblin had chosen to sever themself from her collective and as result they had been hunted for it. Now they found themself hiding in a cave all alone.
