Dominique Fils-AimΓ©'s new record MY WORLD IS THE SUN spills over with beguiling soul-jazz that underscores her ability to evoke a whole spectrum of moods with remarkable efficiency.
I had the pleasure of writing about it for Bandcamp Daily's Album of the Day. β¬οΈ
Aw, thanks! That totally makes my day ... actually, my whole week. Always nice to hear that folks around there reading, listening and discovering new favorites. (And yes, she is terrific. Good job going to the show!)

I talked to Leigh about it for The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon.

Pretty amazing to think about all the records of varying quality and stature that get anniversary pieces each week and also that only one person/publication, as far as I can tell, wrote about Pinegrove's Cardinal yesterday. Good work, @chrisdeville.bsky.social!
One of the best albums of the 2010s β¬οΈ
One of the great songwriters of our time, Damien Jurado, is playing "the hits" on his upcoming tour, which starts tomorrow in Oregon and ends in the Midwest.
For my local newspaper, I talked to him about what that means and why he's doing it after 25+ years of playing whatever he felt like playing.
If you havenβt yet, now would be a fantastic time to pre-order the new free-improv drone epic by the Water Shrew Trio π«

an absolute pillar of my local punk scene for the past 20+ years passed away last fall at the far-too-young age of 44, and they're throwing a show in his honor, all the best heavy/punk bands in town are playing, proceeds benefit a local homeless shelter and it's all so sweet. π₯Ή RIP Preston

two thoughts on this very unsettling Super Bowl commercial:
1. it feels like the first half of an SNL skit.
2. they think we're stupid and that they can just roll out a widespread video surveillance system right under our noses and we won't do anything about it. (they might be right.)
This is the hip equivalent of a fireplace video: the warm sound of a cassette paired with mesmerizing visuals. :)
