Once again, it's time for my monthly roundup of the best country (and country-ISH) music on @bandcamp.com for Bandcamp Daily.
February's includes @queenesther.bsky.social, @rissipalmermusic.bsky.social and 3 lovely benefit comps from @centripetalforce.bsky.social & @seawindofbattery.bsky.social.
highlights, as I remember them, were Box Elders, Those Darlins, Mannequin Men, Cheap Time, Davila 666 and, of course, Roky
and all four venues within six city blocks - the best kind of festival

reminded me that I went to this, which was pretty great ⬇️
I talked to Olympia, Washington folk duo The Lowest Pair about their terrific new album Always As Young As We'll Ever Be for the newspaper in Bend, Oregon, where they're playing next week.
*relatively* plentiful, I probably should've said

I saw her in a 400-capacity theater several years ago and was taken aback by just how great she was. Killer setlist, total command ... not surprised, just, like, "Wow."
Such a distinctive songwriter coming into the peak of her powers. Awesome album.
Been singing "and the needle touched down / the needle has land-eh-eh-eh-eh-ed" ever since.
if you haven't watched 7th grade basketball in a while, let me tell you about it: every single game—every possession, every play—is *far* too rough. refs call ~20% of the fouls they *should* call, even after adjusting for the fact that they can't possibly call every one bcz the game would stall out.
in between games, shopping for 7” records on-line 😢
Youth basketball state tournament weekend … wall-to-wall hoops in various gyms across Salem, Oregon
late-night listening
One worked in coal mines, the other owned a pizza place.
I liked that first album, kinda! Don't think I've heard anything after that. They just never really stuck for me.
Ha ... I got no problem with 'em. I bought the first album and it's cool ... just never fell hard for 'em.
it's like if Interpol was cool and good

there are perfect songs and then there are songs that feel like even more than that, somehow
Montreal singer Dominique Fils-Aimé continues her second trilogy with "My World is the Sun," a beguiling soul-jazz triumph and our Album of the Day.
Dominique Fils-Aimé's new record MY WORLD IS THE SUN spills over with beguiling soul-jazz that underscores her ability to evoke a whole spectrum of moods with remarkable efficiency.
I had the pleasure of writing about it for Bandcamp Daily's Album of the Day. ⬇️
Aw, thanks! That totally makes my day ... actually, my whole week. Always nice to hear that folks around there reading, listening and discovering new favorites. (And yes, she is terrific. Good job going to the show!)
Brennen Leigh and Cristina Vane's Women of Americana tour will crisscross the country over the next 2 months, celebrating artists like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams. I talked to Leigh about it for The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon.
please play this little synth line as they lower me into the ground
Very grateful for the opportunity to write today’s Album Of The Day review for Bandcamp Daily. ⬇️
