slide titled “what is social support?” it is an exchange of resources between two individuals to be intended to enhance the well-being of the recipient. consider two subcategories of social support: 1) received support and 2) perceived support.

slide recapping one of linda’s publications. it reviews how there are personal relationships, professional relationships, and an evolution of relationships that patients and clinicians experience during rehab. all of these are part of the therapeutic relationship!

slide titled “take home messages” it lists four messages including 1) treating patients beyond their physical impairments, 2) addressing social components of recovery to boost odds of RTS, 3) considering long-term knee health, and 4) adapting how your role changes during rehab from expert to supporter.

remember how important social support can be during rehab, esp long rehabs like post-ACL injury or surgery!
