Folks on here probably already know this but Asmongold is a part owner of Mad Mushroom games and OTK (who occasionally runs “direct” style showcases) - he’s no friend to the industry and his labels really ought to be fully shunned

One of them is the whole band pausing and then a single bass note kicking off the next phrase. And even if you aren’t a freak for riffs and hooks, the vocal melody and the way the song climaxes near the end are good on their own.

It was a single at the time but later came out on their album “Black.” After listening to that album a bunch of times, it finally clicked with me. It’s very dense, but in the first 30 seconds or so a bunch of instrumental hooks are introduced and they keep coming back in satisfying ways.

I am obsessed with this song lately (“Afureru” by tricot). The annoying thing is that I don’t really expect anyone that listens to it once to fully soak it in… I came across it when I was first getting into this band and it didn’t do much for me.

I watched it last night and felt the same. It’s dumb, in a good way. It’s just stupid fun that you don’t think too hard about. And it’s self aware.

I believe Marty was the consolized version of the computer line. Sort of like the Amiga CD32.

Hey I use this palette for my project. I recognize this image from Lospec. Nice work! I'm basically a baby when it comes to pixel art, but I've had a great time working within the restrictions of these particular colours.

The fact we even had a way to export 2D maps was kind of a stroke of luck too, since the people requesting it didn't know we could do that (it was a new thing at the time). Not sure how that deadline would have worked out if we weren't able to.

By contrast, one game I worked on had a strategy guide deadline that we (the level designers) heard about at the last minute and we had to quickly export 2D maps from whatever was currently in our WIP levels. The actual guide has things in it that are wrong because we continued making changes.

Nice, it's pretty much what I want! Not perfect in every way but certainly close enough that maybe I'll get used to it.

I tried ShareX and it was like 30% too complicated for what I want.

Is there a free screenshot software that's as simple as the Windows Snipping Tool? There was a recent update to it that makes it auto-detect shapes you draw, which I don't want. I want to draw freehand. I just want to draw a little box on my screen, then get given a screenshot that I can draw on.

Crossing my fingers for aliens here. Expecting "woman can't fly plane"

It's kind of dumb how in every day language "generational" means like "once in a generation (human beings)," but in gamer language "generational" means "once in a generation (video game consoles)." I think what bothers me is it gets used with the implied gravity of the former.

Yeah, I think it’s weird when those are casually shown during conferences/showcases too, particularly if they show the “M rated” content. It happens quite a lot across the game industry and I think it can make it feel a bit juvenile. But I also know these are primarily cynical marketing events.

I might be biased by the fact that I have a 6 year old that likes X-Men.

Gonna continue my prudishness and say that I think the Wolverine gore is way over the top and put me off a bit.

Maybe I’m a prude, but I think it’s very unserious that a silly little video game showcase that’s live streaming in the afternoon might do a smash cut gore montage with no warning. It’s a bit like if you could see red band movie trailers on daytime TV.

Anyway, Silent Hill F looks really cool but I'm not sure I want to pay 99 Canadian Dollars for it.

The little bit of change you'd get back on the Switch eShop got me over the hump of buying a bunch of stuff. And the Wii U with its actual discount if you had the Deluxe console... whew.

I think platform holders might underestimate how much easier it is to make an impulse purchase if they give you a tiny bit of money back. I'm talking like cents on the dollar. The idea that I'm paying ANY amount lower than the MSRP triggers the "I'm getting a deal!" response in my brain.
