99% of the world is dead. In a small Minnesota town, 1 woman writes the monthly local paper but it’s actually an epic horror story mailed to your door.

THE END TIMES.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Most hurtful way to be insulted is when somebody makes up a mean rhyme about your name. Not only is that the name that my own mother gave me, but you're desecrating it using the weapons of a poet!?

very little brings me as much joy as explaining the plots of romance novels to my husband. no one is more earnestly appalled. "he made a BET to marry her? but that will hurt her feelings when she finds out!" yes beloved

Capitalism is incredible. Sorry, former teacher, your retirement fund is gone because 5 guys who've collectively never worked a full hour told the banks to put all the money in the country into virtual girlfriend futures

Know I love my job when I get through a tall stack of reading for work and, as a treat, for the pure enjoyment of it, reread my authors’ Fall 26 books. Cannot wait to share these with the world.

Shame over poverty is such that people reflexively hide it. I had one pair of pants for years, and we lost our house to bankruptcy. But my mother and stepfather in the same town (with whom I didn't live) had no idea. So many people, barely hanging on, keeping it to themselves, now without food.

Donate to Support The Twisted Spine's Flood Recovery Efforts, organized by Lauren Komer On Thursday, October 30th, the remnants of Hurricane Melissa hit NYC, … Lauren Komer needs your support for Support The Twisted Spine's Flood Recovery Efforts

The Twisted Spine, NYC's first bookstore for horror and dark literature, suffered terrible water damage during last week's insane rainstorm and will have to close for repairs. I threw them some bucks to help them get through this difficult time. Please consider helping out if you can.

How Chatbots and AI Are Already Transforming Kids' Classrooms Educators across the country are bringing chatbots into their lesson plans. Will it help kids learn or is it just another doomed ed-tech fad?

If you have it please donate cash to the food banks. $10 in their hands will feed more people than the $10 worth of canned goods you can buy for retail prices. Also check on your elders. Many of them will not admit they rely on these programs so grocery gift cards or a surprise bag of staples

Here's the OCR transcription of the text in the image:

*The Making of Victorian England* (London, 1962), 14. In fact I tried to count and failed. Some time ago I spent the better part of two years coding the evaluative language used in thousands of historians' book reviews, punching IBM cards, and attempting to correlate the language employed with dozens of other variables having to do with historians' generation, field, status, etc. It was a total waste of time, producing nothing intelligible and permanently dampening my enthusiasm for introducing quantitative rigor into intellectual history.

I collect inspirational footnotes and share them from time to time:
