Every time I read my kid The Grinch I am just tickled by the rhythm of the lines:

β€œIt came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes, or bags!”

One mom said her husband was out of town and it's actually easier for her/her kid when he's gone because he's controlling. wtf man

Just anecdotally from talking to a lot of fellow parents in daycare/playground contexts, it is incredible how many moms will make pretty serious complaints about their husbands less than 5 minutes into a conversation. Dads are not exactly killing it rn

I think it’s bad that all of the most powerful people on earth are high on a mix of boutique drugs while they go about their economy-shaping and nation-building

Ludacris put out a random single that's just 44 bars straight of rapping and he's still got it, somehow

Surely as a society, we have the vocabulary to combat the return of 90s unhealthy dieting and celebrities glamorizing eating disorders while also doing the whole respect all people and all bodies thing. I have faith in us

Apparently this is an increasingly common trajectory with crunchy types in the Austin area. It’s like the house always wins, except the house is Texas, and the victory is conservative Christianity

You hear a bit about the crunchy hippie to trad right pipeline, but I’ve watched a music school friend go from regular liberal music student, to yoga teacher, to psychedelic sound healer, to spiritual guru, to avowed disciple of Jesus within in a 5 year span, and I see the pipeline clearly now

I helped an old lady (80-90) with a parking meter. She asked β€œdo you just go around helping little old ladies?” And I replied β€œonly the pretty ones!”

And she reached up and mussed up my hair like I was a 10-year-old kid πŸ˜‚

Contrary to most commenters here, I don’t think this necessarily means he doesn’t have lots of time left, just means he’s slowing down and needs lots of rest. I saw a senior faculty member do this **during a job interview** like 8 years ago and he’s still working and very healthy for his age. Sorry!

Did Mr. Rogers catch this sort of heat, politically? Because Ms. Rachel is just like β€œit is always bad when kids are killed,” that’s literally her whole thesis and the principle that motivates her activism

If you were going to design a campaign to enervate the concept of "antisemitism" and render it meaningless, I struggle to see what one would do differently than these sites have done

I saw the inane topic choice for the article, lack of substance in the text, and my immediate thought was "low effort exposΓ© focused on higher ed? I bet the writer went to Harvard or Yale"

The boat strikes are an atrocity and a war crime, but they don’t even crack the top 10 atrocious war crimes committed by the US military since I’ve been alive. What dignity? What professionalism?
