My back bc of a slipped disc that occurred in a car accident when I was 19 that I was not at fault for - will never be the same again. Bc I was 19 & looked fine people did not take my injury seriously when it happened which meant in my 30s it got BAD.

Chronic pain doesn’t have a ✨LOOK.✨. It took me 2.5 years to find a way thru. I tried EVERYTHING & it was awful. Chiropractors made it WORSE. PT gave me exercises that did NOT help.

In the end it is everyone’s individual choice whether or not to wear makeup, but I do want to remind all of you / us - we don’t NEED it, and bc we don’t need it, we then should be asking ourselves why do we want it?

The fact that we have made ALL young people feel like they need to cover up “imperfections” truly speaks to a huge metaphor, and as someone who was used to sell beauty I fully get why Pamela Anderson is rebelling in this way. It’s about taking back power that was stolen.

The wave of men’s beauty products is not an equal opportunity facilitator. It rather is pushing harmful beauty standards deeper into our already predatory capitalistic consumer based economy where we are just losing money.

I say this as someone who spent 10 years professionally as a model - makeup as art is so fun, but the industry has been designed to make us all feel even more insecure. This movement is vital for self esteem - especially as we see 10 year olds doing Sephora hauls.
