A rendering of a new building with a mostly black metal exterior and light-coloured wood siding accents on the lower floor.

Back in 2022 a fire destroyed a mixed-use building in Squamish. The family that has owned the land for decades plans to rebuild with a modern take on the original. Commercial on the bottom and 8 apartments above. The housing units will be rented out well before the interior paint dries.

A screen capture from a report on the Brennan Park ice arena humidity and plant review report from February of 2026 reporting on operational issues that caused the rink to shut down in September of 2025. Pictures within the image include shots of the pool entry doors, condensation on ice arena glass, the reading on a humidity detection device, gaps in various doors and temporary renovation walls.

The ice rink in Squamish had to be shut down this fall because the ice conditions became dangerous. A report on this is available online. Here’s the link to the full report.

An architectural rendering of a proposed new brewery and tasting room featuring a two-floor brewery building and a dining rail car. The main building features an A-frame steel design with grey metal cladding, hanging patio lights above an outdoor seating area and streetside bicycle parking. The image also includes proposed landscape features.

Bold new venture coming to Squamish Council for approval of a Development Permit. This proposal is for a brewery & tasting room on a small lot downtown. The proponents want to put a railcar on site as an eating and drinking area. #craftbeer squamish.civicweb.net/FileStorage/...

Compost vs. Garbage YouTube video by John French

We’re well into 2026 and new habits are setting in. I’m encouraging everyone to maximize compost separation. Organic waste into landfills makes no sense when organics are easily converted to soil. youtu.be/IBsHDN6vnqk #wastemanagement

A public art statue built in an industrial steampunk style in a grassy treed area. I’m posing beside the statue.

New public art just outside the recreation centre in Squamish, BC. Fascinating piece with amazing small details all over the statue.

A sunflower stands out from green foliage on a patio deck.

Pretty good for a guy who regularly over-waters plants, sometimes dries them out and generally does a poor job growing stuff. This grew from seed and due to poor seedling labeling I originally thought this was a zucchini. 🤷🏼‍♀️ #patiogarden
