Who is being served by HPE research?
The HPE literature is mostly a random collection of empirical observations with few theories to explain how they all fit together. Of the theories that do exist, many of them are too abstract & inaccessible to grass-roots educators.

AI is one of the of the greatest social disruptors of this generation. It challenges everything we assume about the nature of knowledge and meaning. It questions notions of mind and cognition. We might not understand it, but we are in its midst & it is deeply affecting our world

In comparison, AI draws its conclusions on datasets that no single human can ever process. It continues to refine its knowledge base when further information challenges its pre-existing representations. Each query an opportunity to learn. It is relentless. We sleep, it computes

Moreover, we jump to conclusions from limited information. We see patterns when there are none. Our minds can be fooled or misled. We simply do not have the cognitive resources to verify all our hypotheses and propositions.

Just like the AI machine, each of us creates an idiosyncratic and unique interpretation of the world around us that does not follow a universal process. Meanings vary. Human action can be irrational. There isn't always an explanation for our thoughts and flashes of 'insight'.
