04.11.2025 12:21 β π 76 π 8 π¬ 5 π 1todayβs information came out piecemeal, and people should be able to share their own situations on their own time, but I could share this much ^ as it is pretty cut and dry on the facts.
Teen Vogue also no longer has any trans staffers as of today.
I love that for your dog.
04.11.2025 01:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.
now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of todayβs layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

31.10.2025 23:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0This is probably unnecessarily dark, but the Dec 6 1989 massacre at LβΓcole Polytechnique happened down the street from the National Theatre School, and when class was halted to tell us, we stood there in our red clown noses.
31.10.2025 16:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hadnβt thought about that one, having never encountered it in real life, I feel better prepared for it now. Thanks.

31.10.2025 14:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thatβs my experience. The one time it came up with someone close to me, they were trying to communicate the question, βhow do we know what we know?β which is not a bad question, they just were unaware of all the thinking thatβs already been done around it.

29.10.2025 03:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The original Far Side Cow Tools Cartoon by Gary Larson. A cow stands on its hind legs behind a table, staring blankly at the viewer from behind its heavy brow ridge. On the table are four crudely made tools: a lump, a lump with an offset crooked handle, a long stick with hooked prongs at the end, and a crude handsaw with irregular teeth. In the background a barn sits on a hill. Caption reads, "Cow tools."
43 years ago today, readers the world over opened their newspapers and gazed upon cow tools for the first time. happy birthday cow tools. you look great.

I'm terrible at bug ID, but I'll say it's an elephant beetle (Megasoma elephas), a giant beetle with long 'horn' on its nose, being ridden by a little plastic cowboy with one fist in the air, in some mulch, with little plastic model rodeo fencing just out of focus to suggest action.
A Pink Zebra Beauty tarantula (Eupalaestrus campestratus) is astride a tiny plastic horse, a tiny cowboy hat on its head, plastic reins under the legs. There's mulch and some fencing sort of out of focus to give the illusion of being real/larger.
The Houston Rodeo is already underway & the Houston Museum of Natural History (@hmns.bsky.social) posted these action shots on FB with their insects recreating rodeo scenes for the kickoff event: "Go Texan Day."
It put a smile on my face, y'all. π
