today’s information came out piecemeal, and people should be able to share their own situations on their own time, but I could share this much ^ as it is pretty cut and dry on the facts.

Teen Vogue also no longer has any trans staffers as of today.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue has been doing some impressive reporting since Elaine Welteroth took the helm in 2016. She oversaw a purposeful increase in coverage of politics and social justice topics.

Thanks for saying it so clearly. Conversations IRL are sometimes fine, often exhausting, and not why I come here.

This is probably unnecessarily dark, but the Dec 6 1989 massacre at L’École Polytechnique happened down the street from the National Theatre School, and when class was halted to tell us, we stood there in our red clown noses.

That’s my experience. The one time it came up with someone close to me, they were trying to communicate the question, β€œhow do we know what we know?” which is not a bad question, they just were unaware of all the thinking that’s already been done around it.

The original Far Side Cow Tools Cartoon by Gary Larson. A cow stands on its hind legs behind a table, staring blankly at the viewer from behind its heavy brow ridge. On the table are four crudely made tools: a lump, a lump with an offset crooked handle, a long stick with hooked prongs at the end, and a crude handsaw with irregular teeth. In the background a barn sits on a hill. Caption reads, "Cow tools."

My new favorite photo of me teaching. I was teaching parents and caregivers of autistic children about sensory processing disorder at the Caregiver Brunch and a sensory seeker from a Parent who didn’t have a babysitter came to stim with me. So I stimmed while continuing to teach.

Seems like a great moment for some magazine to do a big spread of photos of the East Wing throughout its history, driving home exactly what kinds of spaces have been taken from the people.

I'm terrible at bug ID, but I'll say it's an elephant beetle (Megasoma elephas), a giant beetle with long 'horn' on its nose, being ridden by a little plastic cowboy with one fist in the air, in some mulch, with little plastic model rodeo fencing just out of focus to suggest action.

A Pink Zebra Beauty tarantula (Eupalaestrus campestratus) is astride a tiny plastic horse, a tiny cowboy hat on its head, plastic reins under the legs. There's mulch and some fencing sort of out of focus to give the illusion of being real/larger.

The Houston Rodeo is already underway & the Houston Museum of Natural History (@hmns.bsky.social) posted these action shots on FB with their insects recreating rodeo scenes for the kickoff event: "Go Texan Day."

It put a smile on my face, y'all. πŸ˜„
