Sorry! I had a senior moment and got the wrong day. It’s very strange because it’s was Tuesday up to about 5.00 o’clock!

That brings back memories. I saw my first Western at Bristol Temple Meads in the early 1970s!

Very nice, and I like your sentiment. I don't rate my images complete until I've printed them. Despite a carefully calibrated and profiled workflow, I always spot things that needs re-editing after making a print. Images can often look good on screen, but a print often persuades me to reject them!

Yes, and it can be razor sharp as well!

What Is Bonking In Cycling - And How Do You Avoid It? It’s happened to most cyclists at one time or another. Your ride is going great, you’re enjoying the miles in the saddle, your legs feel strong, and your heart rate is under control. But within

I wouldn’t really know, but I did notice two that had closed. The Three Crowns is now flats.

I wanted to make that exact same point a couple of weeks ago, but I didn’t want to come across as patronising.

The pictures you have been posting are both beautiful and inspiring. They suggest that you find some solace by making them. Perhaps you need to carry on, and a new purpose will emerge. I do best when I work on enjoying the process rather than fixating on the result. Don't be too hard on yourself!

Thank you very much for providing the link, I appreciate it. I have read so much about the area, and it is information like this that enables us to walk through the landscape with different eyes.

Yes, exactly. I seem to remember that it was to prevent the population becoming β€œimpoverished”!

The 1860 OS map shows that a number of new Forest farms, estates and associated cottages had been established post enclosure. They had big families back then too. Also, the church was originally smaller, and has been enlarged.

That's very true. I suppose that back in the 1800s many people, from labourers to gentry, saw attending church as non-negotiable.

I had one too and used it a lot for documenting my granddaughter, but I always found it a bit frustrating. Whereas I’ve now had a 100V for about 4 years and I can’t imagine getting rid of it! Lovely picture, makes me want to be there!

I always look at art like this and think β€œhow did someone imagine that?”. So good, but I can’t explain why I think so.

Hi Dave. I remember the terrible subsidence at Bagworth. The ancient Norman church had to be demolished and was replaced by the NCB with one made of concrete panels. It looked like a colliery headstock! That soon crumbled and now there is nothing!

Last week I watched two stoats catch a rabbit. There was a lot of shrieking and jumping around before their mission was accomplished. Quite something to witness.

I’ve been waiting for you to do this for the last 5 years. Great news!

Victorians claimed the view extended to Gloucester, Wales and even the "German Ocean"! A heliostat was once used to send messages to Lincoln. In 1840 there was a royal visit and "an hour was spent in the enjoyment of the wonderful prospect, of which her Majesty frequently expressed her admiration".

Commiserations Paula, I’ve got the same problem and it’s not pleasant! I think my feet have changed and my walking boots are now too small, which has caused a problem. I’m driving up to Whalley next week for a custom boot fitting. I bought some Sketchers with a very soft footbed to use at home.

They have been lovely this year. There is a large glade in the woods behind the stables, where the mansion used to be, it has been a stunning sea of yellow. I’ve never seen so many daffodils. The whole reserve, including Timberwood Hill is a very diverse and special place.
