Imagine it's March of 2006 and you're visiting Kyotos Kiyomizu-dera and it's surrounding area....

Stumbled over some very old pictures, from my year in Japan. I guess I should count myself lucky, that I had a chance to see Kyoto before the big tourism wave.

And as I am in my way to Narita, have some early Christmas greetings... after all it's November 1st. So Japan switched from Halloween to Christmas overnight.

Will definetely take a look. I went to Koya-san in 2006 - so ages ago 🙈 Really hope to make it back during one of my next travels to Japan.

Current Moods: I don't want to go back home just yet and my vacation to end.
I'm looking forward to being back home.
I do not want to pack my suitcases tonight. I *really* do not look forward to the ~16hrs flight back.

I do look forward to sleep in my own bed and just do nothing for a few days.

Went back to Ueno Park - another great part of Tokyo to just get a bit of calm and rest.

Taking most pictures with my DSLR, so I'll post more once I'm back home.

Every morning here in Japan: I want to order coffee for breakfast in Japanese....

But I need coffee to speak somewhat decent Japanese.
So my simple order ends in a huge confusion. OTL

Took a stroll through Azabujuban today - probably the nicest and calmest area of Tokyo I've been to so far 💖🗼💖

Also one of the most expensive 😂
Maybe I'll try to come back and take some views of the Tokyo Tower at night or dusk.

When eating at a danish bakery in Japan, I need to buy a Spandauer of course.

Leaving Kumamoto for Tokyo today, so have a slightly haunting version of Kumamon 🙈

Went to Amanoiware Shrine and Takachiho Gorge today. Took even more pictures of interesting greenery and rock formations 🙈

Not sure if I'll be able to go to the Statue in Kumamoto. It's a bit away from our hotel :(

Finally went to Aso Nakadake today be prepared for plenty of pictures of rocks and gras fields during golden hour 😁

Today didn't start as planned (always reserve seats on trains here, guys). But our little spontaneous excursion to Minami Aso had the best train ride possible 💖

Met my Nemesis, the cake thieves, again.

Everything went fine this time and all the Miyajima deer behaved. No cakes were stolen.

Other than that: The first days in Kyōto have been busy and way too short. On our way to Kyūshū now, where our stay will hopefully be more relaxed 🙈

Other than that, we arrived. Landing in Narita was a bit rough.
Spent the while afternoon with "arriving" in Japan (JR Pass, immigration etc.) and now t's almost 11 p.m. and I'm just dead tired

~ 15hrs until Tokyo 💖

I think for my next travel to Japan I'll definetely have to get an international driving license and learn to drive a car on the left side.

So many great places to visit - but off the big tourist spots, they are barely reachable via train or bus.
